The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet of red berry fruit, briar, crushed stone and rose petal, and is, so it turns out, Very Rousseau-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, a silver bead of acidity and plenty of energy, with wonderful tension and verve toward the finish. This is a Charmes-Chambertin with great pedigree and will give many years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Intoxicating nose that can be smelled across the room and one that is quintessential Dujac. It’s juicy with dark fruit and whole bunch spice and there is a surprising level of ripeness and concentration for the vintage. It’s finely detailed and delineated with a silky texture, big structure and excellent length. Open for business. — 3 years ago
Delicious Burgundy entering into the early phases of its drinking window. Rich darker fruit profile with good complexity and minerality. Lengthy finish. Very nice. — 6 years ago

1996 vintage. Redonkulous, mid-neck fill and pristine cork (have had 17-20 similarly stored/performing bottles of different producers, varietals, regions from this particular cellar). Decanted with a mix of small chunk and coffee ground sed. Tasted immediately and over the course of two hours. That aged, silvery sheen in the color with a noticeable meniscus. Quiescent nose in the early going and showing. Took approx 30 mins of repeated decanted agitations to coax out a mix of herbs, orange zest/peel and slight beefiness. All this plus some American milk chocolate coalescing in flavor land. Light body. Still going strong after two hours. Likely another 7-10 years of drinking pleasure left from an above average vintage. 12.30.23. — 5 months ago
Very nice Margaux from a year I haven’t had before. Wonderful nose. Decanted 6h which I recommend at this point - or check back in after 3-5 years. Tannins and oak are there, relatively classically Bordeaux. Needs food - as a pairing with lamb tagine, very nice. — 6 months ago
Overly cold unfortunately which mutes much of the flavour you would expect from this 1er Cru from the excellent 2014 vintage for white burgundy made by the baby faced assassin Henri Boillot. I might add to this note once it has warmed up. Very lemony. — 9 months ago
Apple that had begun to rot in the cider bin (in a good way!) minerals and balanced oak integration. A very long and complex finish. — 4 years ago
Smoky minerals, black cherry, orange peel, violets, spice cake, licorice- just a few notes. There’s a lot going on here and it’s intensely satisfying. Grainy tannins, very lengthy finish. Just a superb young Morgon with effortless style and composure whose best years are still well ahead. — 5 years ago
Plums and oak. Wonderful Bordeaux. — 9 years ago

The 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru is a little oakier and creamier on the nose than its peers, yet with enormous depth of fruit that crashes over the olfactory senses. But perhaps it needs more delineation? It seems slightly later-picked than its peers, giving off light caramel notes. The palate is medium-bodied and hewn from a richer style of this Grand Cru. Slightly viscous in texture, dense and powerful, it doesn't quite possess the killer clarity and/or mineralité on the finish as the best in the flight. Impressive nonetheless, this is a Montrachet with real heft. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Impossible de retrouver le terroir du jura, c'est très bourguignon et vraiment délicieux! On peut penser à un beau blanc de la côte châlonnaise. — 7 years ago
2004. This is a great iteration of the esoteric Charmes-Chambertin. Tannins are yet unresolved and many years are left under this fine Burgundy! — 9 years ago
