Didn't read properly, thought I got another Bordeaux but it's actually 100% merlot. Funny thing is I wouldn't have bought that had I known but this one was really good for $10 — 12 years ago

Dear Uruguayan sommelier in the random restaurant on Avenida Santa Fe, thank you for introducing us to this dark, voluptuous fruit of the Patagonian desert (see photo of the earth of the vineyard on the label). Self judgment aside, it can only be described as tantamount to drinking velvet. Lush, liquid, aniseedy velvet. Muchisimas gracias, Leah — 12 years ago

Leah's brand spanking new Côt, aka Malbec, hails from Crater Lake Vineyard on ancient marine sedimentary soils. Frisky acidity keeps the black raspberry starry depths in focus. It's a baby, though it's a pretty niña, I can't wait to see all the places this Côt will go. For now, being in my glass is mighty fine! — 10 years ago
