Mineral Springs Ranch Pinot Noir 2016

Delectable Wine
9.4

Glistening magenta. Displays expansive, spice- and mineral-accented red/dark berry preserve scents that take on incense and lavender flourishes with air. Juicy, seamless and energetic on the palate, offering densely packed black raspberry, cherry liqueur and exotic spice flavors that show sharp delineation and back-end thrust. Finishes impressively long and smooth, with resonating red fruit, floral notes and velvety, harmonious tannins that make a cameo appearance. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, June 2019) β€” 5 years ago

Snowden

The Ranch Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Comparing to the 13 last night...
This is not quite as big in alcohol. Even more opaque. More silky on the tongue. Instead of a green front I got a little spice, nutmeg. Tannins were softer. In sum, I give the slight nod to 2013 Snowden over 2012 Snowden. Experiment complete.

Wild dark berries, blueberries, huckleberries, well done toast, dark florals and coffee grounds & bacon fat on the nose. The wine has experienced beautiful bottle evolution. The tannins are nicely softened but will continue to soften further over the next 7 or so years. It's mouthfeel is round, full and elegant. The fruits are ripe & juice but dry on the longer finish. It's a nice blend of wild dark berries and an array of blue fruits. Blackberries, black plum, plum, dark cherries, blueberries with an undertone of over pancakes, olallieberries, huckleberries, strawberries preserves, a bramble quality, anise, slight tarry notes, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, nutmeg, dark volcanic minerals with a touch of iron, dark moist soils, dry crushed rocks, violets, lavender, violets, used coffee grounds, slightly sweetened black tea, wood shavings, graphite, acidity is spot on and the balance of fruit and earth, length and structure are beginning their harmony. The finish is long, lush, round, elegant and lasts well over a minute. Looking forward to the Nickel & Nickel Entrecote in May to see how their 16 single vineyard Cabernets are developing. β€” 7 years ago

Too bad. The event changes weekends in April year to year. Perhaps, you can make it one of these years. Once you attend, you're hooked. It's a really good event with some rare tastings not to mention tasty bites and excellent scenery all around.

Lovely, deep nose! Extremely soft on the palate with nice blackberry and plum flavors. Even a little spice. Fades pretty quick for an '09 Napa Cab and isn't as bold and powerful as I would have expected. Not bad but probably $20 bucks too high in price. Wife rated it 90/91. β€” 8 years ago

Mead Ranch Zinfandel 2012

2012 tasted 1/1/19 citrus rind, reduced currant, ripe red cherry, and lovely fresh violet notes Initially. The alc didn’t show until day 2. Quite light on the palate for the alc on day 1 though while packing a ton of complexity. I wished that I had drank it all on night 1 but I had to be fresh in the AM! I like Tegan’s wines very much and honestly? I did not expect this to be a favorite vi years and it wasn’t. I’m saving the faves for a few more years. β€” 5 years ago

Hallberg Ranch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Light and bright Ruby, lightest CA Pinot, more of an OR color. Tons of fruit and floral aromas that meld well together. Strawberry and cherry on the palate with mild spice wrapped up in a vivid acidity package. Mild soft tannins, elegant style, medium body, lingering ending with a fruity mineral ending. Very nice! Tastes great, but a couple af years could benefit, but hard to resist if you see a bottle on the menu as I did. β€” 6 years ago

Struggling to explain this cab! Intoxicating nose. Not overly rich/full.... but not thin either. Not syrupy , not dry.... sort of 'in the middle' on all counts... But yet smooth & great flavor! A bit sweet at first but after decanting = wow! Def buy again. Dana - I think you'd like!!! β€” 8 years ago

Roll Ranch Vineyard Syrah 2010

Had the 2010 Roll Ranch with Christmas dinner of prime rib, baby artichokes, asparagus, roasted potatoes. Had this after a 1999 Dalla Valle Cabernet. A little thin on first sip and not a as full as the regular cuvΓ©e. Losing fruit? Energized and vibrant for an older vintage. After some time in the glass, the wine filled out and is improving. Maybe decant? β€” 8 years ago
