Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend 1998

This wine is just unmistakeable. I served it blind and, after guessing that it was Cabernet dominant and about 20 years old, I told my dad that he was right and that, despite his immediate uncertainty, I would have been able to identify this myself blind. After which he said, ah yes, so it's not from France, it's from the Lebanon! The cinsault is so evident in this - completely muddling, but at the same time enriching the wine, adding complexity, depth, and delicate spice. The Carignan adds a wonderfully peppery fragrance and binds it all together beautifully! — 10 years ago

The Standish Wine Company

Single Vineyard Shiraz 2003

I love Dan Standish. He is one of the best winemakers. Lovely wine, very young. Blueberry and Red silky fruit. Full Bodied but not overly alcoholic, heat isn't obvious in this wine. Great length and layers of flavours. Big points from me 95 points. A producer I highly recommend! Typical sweet Barossa fruit, very seductive... — 10 years ago

For the extra €10-20 I think Sassicaia is worth it, but Andrew needs some Italian finishing school, sorella!

Beaulieu Vineyard

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Fantastic nose. My good friend Mumbles bought this and I'm glad he "badgered" me to have a glass. If I weren't driving tonight I would have had the whole bottle. — 10 years ago

1987 was a very good vintage in Napa Valley; but I anticipated that this wine had perhaps seen better days.... HOLD THE TRAIN!! this wine is absolutely spectacular - maybe just a great bottle - but I will be hunting this down. Superb integration, balance and freshness - what a treat! Absolutely worthy of its cost and please stop being an OPUS hater - this is one of the greatest efforts in Napa bar none.... and this vintage; I think its the best 1987 wine I have ever had - and rivals the best wine I have ever had from Napa period. 99 points - we will hold one point back because who knows what perfect really is?
LOVED IT!!! Love to hear what others think.
