Very nice and interesting Syrah from the Rhone. Aromatically not that intense, but this has great freshness and acidity, with medium tannins. More purity of restrained fruit than earth or funk. Quite nice with a ribeye at Prairie Whale in the Berkshires. — 9 years ago

Fairly fruity on the nose. Hint of black pepper and something earthy/mineral. Flavor is very dry. Dried strawberries and red vines. Classic jammy Zin thing. Some pomegranate molasses perhaps. As pinot noir goes this is a fairly full-bodied wine with both red and black fruit character and very appealing herbal and forest floor qualities. Tasted alongside the 2015 Hyde Vineyard bottling this one has a bit more acidity and structure though both are equally appealing. — 8 years ago
