The Launois Veuve Clemence remains one of our favorite N/V Grand Cru Champagne's and one the very best values in Champagne. Reductive in style. Always so delicate and soft on the palate. Micro bubbles. The fruit is soft, subtle yet full of flavor. Green apple, lime/lemon citrus, pineapple, ripe green melon, touch of cream soda, hint of honey, brioche, soft delicate chalky minerality, spring florals, soft, bright acidity and a round well polished finish. Damn tasty! Under $45 at K&L Wine Merchants. Get it while it remains in stock!!! It's either the only place to find it or 1 of 2 places in the country that Launois allows to represent them in the U.S. — 8 years ago

Pop n' pour, need I say more. Ovid is so on point. My last bottle of this particular wine😰😰😰 — 11 years ago
Seriously good Chardonnay from an unlikely AVA. The Finger Lakes can be very hit and miss, but sometimes you find gems like this. Restrained and balanced, with a very subtle aroma of pineapples. It has some weight to it, but also firm acidity. There’s probably some oak at play, but it’s very much in the background. And at only 12% ABV you can have a couple glasses, too. — 7 years ago

NB: we popped what was left of this bottle after it had been "Coravined" (which is rapidly on its way to becoming a verb) for about four months. Only half of the bottle remained, so we popped it, poured glasses then decanted the rest.
Important to note that part of this experience because the wine had changed over he time of its first pour back in April of this year in the sense that while still potent & impressive, it seems to have fallen asleep a bit, and is not revealing its potential of rich, buttery lusciousness. Yet.
..:k, hold on ;).
It's beautiful, and as it breathes, opens and warms, it's blossoming into all the expectations one demands to fill at this $$$. +$. And it's growing as I type.
So with the obvious caveat in having the Coravin acting as our variable in the equation - she held up well enough for us to relish in it tonight. To swim around in the lusciousness of the Russian River Valley- even if we had to be quiet so as to not wake he folks who owned the pool. I snuck a kiss in there somewhere. Eventually & with care.
Throw some beautifully prepared artichokes and some crab legs into that Russian River Valley- and you got a STEW BABY!

Lurid pink - f**k the pale 'n' dry party (forgive the profanity); all juicy red berry fruit, a little crunch and phenolic tweak. Moreish. — 11 years ago
