Caymus Vineyards

Special Selection Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine of the night. This wine had EXCELLENT fruit, and showed NO VISIBLE SIGNS of decline. Great powerful blackberry. I was guessing 01 Stag's Leap or Rutherford. Turns out it was Caymus SS 01, but I was second guessing myself on the year because it was a very purple color into the decanter and showing well. The wine had great vanilla on the front, blackberry on the front, and a more youthful middle and finish with some herb. This wine has 10 years left in it no doubt. Whoever cut this one off at 2017 has no idea. This one literally showed no signs of decline whatsoever. Drink by date 2007 - 2030. — 9 years ago

Silver Oak

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Ok, I know the haters are out there. But seriously in a charming restaurant in a old Wyoming frontier town, and paired with world-class elk tenderloin, this Cab rocked. Or maybe it was the Wyoming Whisky warmup talking... — 10 years ago

Even though I didn't like this, there is no room for hate on DL! Drink what you like. No shame 😀

@TheSkip thanks for the support. The wine was a gift (from my Mom no less) and seemed a perfect traveler for my Wyoming vacation. Not a wine I would pursue, but it was in a perfect time/place to enjoy on the road. It's all about the experience, right?

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

Dark color with green pepper full fruit and saddle leather. Acid a bit dominating. Will give it a year or two. — 11 years ago

Belle Glos

Meiomi Pinot Noir 2013

Deep reddish/purple color which has me on guard relative to Pinot. Worried that darker than lighter raspberry red has had Mega Red or other manipulation but this Pinot just has concentrated character. Varietal rose petal and cherry notes in aromas. You can see the broad influence from the 3 appellations that comprise the wine. Weighty on the palate without being too over bearing for the varietal. Great accompaniment to the saffron broth salmon this evening. — 11 years ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Our favorite Sauvignon blanc. Light with loads of citrus. Great with shrimp or veg with dip. Between $12 and $16 a bottle. — 13 years ago
