Great light red with a bit of try from the cab franc. I don't see Hungarian wines often. This was great so went and bought a case today — 7 years ago
Gracefully aged Blaufränkisch from Hungarian earth. Wonderful nose with dried red berries, underbrush, licorice and red currant. Still a lovely acidity, soft fully integrated tannins. The Barrique maturation is not noticeable. Franz Weninger is now slowly reducing the oak treatment in all his wines. Mainly using big, used old casks. Can't wait till the now actual wines are in the age window of this Steiner. The 2013 Steiner from slate soil is also a stunner. — 7 years ago

Wow, incredibly fresh and spicy. Notes of pepper, violets, blackberry, and tart cherry on the nose. The palate was lifted, floral and spicy with mouthwatering acidity and masses of inner floral tones. It reminds me of Lacrima, yet more structured and refined. What a beautiful wine. — 7 years ago
