1987 Richebourg. Dinner w JW & AC at Cap. K was worried since this was on “off vintage.” Didn’t decant. Poured in glass and it was just really thin. However, as the night progressed, this drank really, really well and the wine totally transformed. Both Joe and K said they want to buy more. — 8 years ago

3L Pierre Yves Colin Morey Les Perrieres Mersault. Bday dinner at Tap. Double-decanted it. JW and DS thought it might have been corked. Slightly better after decanting twice. Still had that wet dog, musty smell to it. Was much better the next day at lunch. Much more drinkable at lunch and peeps enjoyed it then. 2x 1999 DRC La Tache. First red of the night during our opening night out on the patio. People preferred the second bottle to the first. Minor difference. The first was delicious- raisiny sweet finish, with barnyard nose in the front and chewiness in mouth. Second one seemed slightly less sweet on the finish. Both were epic. JW thought they both showed exactly as they should- textbook. — 10 years ago

3L 2004 Louis Jadot Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru. K/JW Christmas dinner at Nobu. All large format wines. This was one of three whites we started with. This was our favorite of the three. Just perfectly balanced. The 2004 Bouchard Montrachet was ashy and buttery and rich. The 2004 Pierre Morey was pretty acidic, so the contrast was awesome. — 12 years ago
