I like this but I imagine the 2009 might be a little better for the appellation. High acid, creamy, some reduction but not off-putting. There is a green exotic fruit quality that really reminds me quite a bit of 2011 Rhys Alder Springs chardonnay though this is much leaner and lighter bodied. They would be awesome to taste side by side. This is also lighter bodied likely due to just a bit lower alcohol. Seems Coche is known for the high and tight richness. Star fruit is really what comes to mind first here. Jenna says acidity reminds her of green table grapes. This is grapey, too. No doubt, fantastic oak here. Style here compared to Roulot should both be exhibited in a textbook. Again, creamy, lovely texture here. Need to learn about oak here, could so easily be overdone. Somehow the oak is just very well integrated here. It is toasted though seems to be lightly so. Comes off more caramel like (not at all sweet) with the faintest hint of char. A little matchstick reduction, this wine benefits tremendously from decanting. Need another bottle to better understand the style here. — 11 years ago

I loved it. Jenna thought it was "earthy". — 12 years ago
This bottle of wine was given to my son Tom Jr from my brother in law Brian Donovan. Brian gave Tommy the wine as a gift to commemorate the announcement of his wife Jenna being pregnant with my first Grandchild. Tom and Jenna have chosen tonight 02/25/2013, to open this memorable bottle. We will be forever grateful to Brian for this incredible wine experience. — 13 years ago

Great purity, just a bit taut right now. Should resolve nicely. There are some deep, leafy, earthy aromatics. Oak is judged well. This has nice freshness to it. Definitely on the rustic side. Jenna thinks it's "dirty and dusty like licking the floor of a primitive structure." It is very hot to her as well, both nasally and to drink. The wine Polaner calls blood orange on this bottling and Camus' other VV Savigny bottling. He is completely right we both agree. 85 year old vines. A solid value for the cellar. Jenna says the quality of this is like unfiltered Honest Tea to clean and bright Steaz. This is a touch more muddled at the moment with a bit of bitterness but I am confident this will clarify and integrate nicely with time. Old school for purists. Jenna says it's "minty and herbal, fennel or anise." Definitely anise/fennel. Some balsamicky older barrel aromas and also nuttier newer oak aromas, too. Good balance. This really does have some soil aromas to it. A touch hot (alcohol) right but I imagine it will cool down with some time in bottle. — 12 years ago
