Irish Distillers

Chateau Montelena

Calistoga Zinfandel 2015

This zin is just as good as their cabs. Well balanced and not overly jammy. It is aged in French/Irish/ American oak barrels for 16 months, 15% of which are new. I can't recall ever seeing irish oak barrels before. — 6 years ago

Irish Whiskey

Really nice Irish Whiskey. The nose wasn’t that appealing, but the taste was much better. Nice bite at the end, smooth at the front. — 7 years ago

Château Phélan Ségur

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

In 1805, Daniel Phelan, an Irish wine broker, acquired le Clos de Garamey, and was followed in 1810 by the acquisition of the Segur de Cabanac estate, creating the domain that remains today. Initial Aromas of leather, oak and earthiness hit about, medium(+), bringing in subtle flavors of blackberry and herb. On the palate subtle fruit flavors of blackberry, herb, leather, smoky oak and meatiness carry from the nose. Medium(+) acidity on firm medium(+) tannins of this full body wine carry the flavors to a medium(+) length finish. Very good, but undelivered a bit, drink now will not get better. — 7 years ago

Redbreast Cask Strength Edition Aged 12 Years Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

Color is light caramel. Nose is quite sweet with aldehyde, caramel, crayon, and hotness strength. Taste is very smooth considering she is just 12 yr old. Nice creamy milk like flavor, wood chips, dried fruits, honey, and flowering note. Really impressed by the flowering and honey note. Aftertaste of warmth, some apple, dried fruit, and more flowering note. A must try 12 yr old. — 9 years ago

I'm not much into Spirits and those I like most are grape or other fruit based. I can appreciate great Scotland whiskey quality without enjoying it, but, I must admit to real enjoyment of this smooth, mellow, silky Irish whiskey. — 10 years ago
