A deliciously dry tinto, enjoyed in Praça do Comércio on the port side of Lisbon. This tinto had a smooth taste that faded into a sharp bite that would eventually leave a lingering bitter fruit taste on the back of your tongue. — 12 years ago

After years trying to taste it in a proper manner, I finally found the opportunity over a decent red pepper steak with red grape sauce. I was surprised not to see Alicante Bouschet into this baco original from the heights of the Serra de Sao Mamede in Portalegra, but the truth is that the typical granite soils from the region are powering this Touriga Nacional to its best!! Really nice representation of the value and quality of Portugal's Douro blends. Soft with being cloying and a good balance of acidity and deeper fruit like blackberry make it a good pairing with steak and hearty soup. The more Douro I drink the more my bucket list trip to Spain will include a side trip to Portugal's wine regions. — 11 years ago
