so, this was rated on a curve. stored in a fridge in another city. fridge died in summer and it was weeks before i found it. it was baked. and then it was weirdly ok. just used it to explain to @captain henrik how get wine out of a bottle with a coravin (merry xmas, cap'n!) expecting it to be destroyed. lo and behold. second wine from that lot which wasn't ruined. the OTHER, miraculously, was the bernaudeau "sans souffre" which I'll never understand why it was ok. maybe there are wine elves sticking ice in the dead fridge until I found it.... god jul!! — 7 years ago
Initial nose after 10 minutes open is very hot, with hints of currants & dried fruit. After 40 minutes the alcohol fades revealing a nose of dark, ripe cherry with prune/light raisin. This is not an Amarone or ripasso but has some of the characteristics. On the palate there is a blast of beautiful dried fruit, rich and full. After an hour open the soft prune, currant fruit is evident and delicious.
This wine is peaking. Drink now or in next five years. Elizabetta Fanetti's traditional style is one I admire. Loved it! — 8 years ago
Always love Musar because it has spunk. It's a Bordeaux with character and doesn't hold back. Medium bodied with leather, liquorice, charred raspberry... I've had mid 90's vintages I liked better, but 2007 had the familiar notes I liked so assume they will get better with patience. Tasted over two nights. — 8 years ago
This old and empty bottle I drank with friends and family members on my Birthday it's a Magnum and wasn't as well cared for as another Magnum of Chateau Talbot also a 1949 Magnum also drank on my birthday with friends who as well as me, are old farts or dead. I'm still kicking but not a clue as to why? Possibly the fine wine I/we consumed? The Talbot was considerably better and I paid less for it back in the 70's. Drank it in 1979 it & me were 30 back then. I loved it then and my guess is I'd love it today!

I really loved this wine. It was a recommendation by the sommelier and turned out to be fantastic. Berry nose - that upon taste has a beautiful sweet licorice with a slight hint of spice. What makes this wine even more fantastic is the in mouth nasal nose that rises - it's beautifully floral that adds depth to the awesomeness of this wine. Goes down delicious, smooth and well - just yummy. — 9 years ago
wow I love this mineral rich, earthy wine with spicy food, so good! thanks Melissa S!! — 9 years ago
Opened last night with pizza a little left to try again today.
Drinking real nice, soft tannins, smooth mouthfeel with just a tiny grip at the end. I have a few other Turley 08's time to drink them up. — 10 years ago
this is killing it. better than most things. incl. clos rougeard. — 11 years ago
A ridiculous amount of fruit remains intact here. A ton of secondary truffle & savory character shows. The vibrant nature is shocking in every good way. I modestly would say that I've been lucky enough to taste quite a few 82's and this is among the best ones. — 7 years ago
First time trying the '15s and it's as great as always. This is definitely a decent amount more brawny and ripe than the '14s but still identifiable as a Lapierre wine. That said, I'm still not the biggest fan of most of these '15's so far, they are too hot and ripe and don't really fit the profile of what I want from most Beaujolais. This is still pretty good on its own merits though. Day 1 it was closed and not giving up very much but on this morning, Day 2, it's come around and opened up quite a bit. Ripe, juicy strawberry and raspberry red fruit, tart rhubarb, wild violet, smoky gravel minerality, with a nice briny, almost gamey salinity underscoring things a bit. Nice medium (+) acid, medium (-) body with a great, soft texture. Just a touch of fine, supple tannic grip. There a bit of brett and VA but they're in balance rather than being a faulty distraction; the VA helps give a little extra lift, if anything. Will try another bottle after some more time has passed because even though it's good now it honestly still needs to come together a bit more; it seemed almost still slightly bottle shocked when I first opened it yesterday. If you're opening one soon I'd recommend giving it a little air to let it unfurl. — 7 years ago
A fantastic wine. A nice red berry aroma and a beautiful ruby red color. I recommend with pasta. — 8 years ago
An old half bottle- among the first with a government warning and before even the days of Remy importing the Champagne. @Garth Hodgdon and I are both guessing released around 1989 and perhaps based on a late 70's harvest. This still had a touch of pressure and almond like complexity to spare. Big acid on the back end will keep it going for a long time! — 8 years ago
Vintage 1949 in Burgundy according to Broadbent: “..most perfect end of a decade - elegant, well-balanced wines”; Clive Coates in his book Cote D'Or: "best vintage of 40's all-perfect beauty and purity”; Robert M. Parker Jr.: “it was the best of post world war II vintages before 1959”
Henri Leroy at that time was négociant based in Auxey-Duresses, his mythical daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1949 was only seventeen.
Les Cazetiers is amongst the most elevated of Premier Cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin - and indeed the whole of Burgundy.
I drank this precious bottle on Mount Etna with #FrankCornelissen and other dear friends. Uncork this bottle lead to a surgical operation. Just begun to pull it out, a light breath of wine molecule with air bubbles magically have emerged on the surface of the cork. It's been like witness the passing away of a dying old man (or Pinot Noir must be a woman?) That humanized wine had held "élan vital", hope and breath inside him for the last 66 years! A miracle of a wine still so tasty, robust, citrusy, vibrant, earthy, incredibly alive and well-preserved despite color and neck level did not bode so well.. that's what I thought and I'll remember until I die: "the wine was waiting for us to drink it up, he gave off his mortal blow to offer us life, joy and smile!" — 8 years ago

As a long-time Mailing List member I faithfully add these Pinots to my cellar but have to say that their Chardonnay(s) is what really rocks my boat.
This 2011 is fresh off the delivery truck and does show potential but I'll wait for a while before popping the next one. — 8 years ago
08' Colgin Cariad. This bottle of wine is for my beautiful bride, of 16 years today!
I'll get right to it. This wine after a 60 minute decanting is in a perfect place. It's one of the best 2008's. I think it will taste just like this for 5 years.
There's a dozen things going on in this. Blue and red fruits stand out for me. Throw in a little licorice, chocolate. Medium tannins & acidity. A smooth finish. If you would like to open up a Colgin that's drinking today. I highly recommend this bottle. — 8 years ago
Dark Crimson color, opened at 8am and double decanted. The oak permeates the dark cherry & fruit flavored. Nice nose but unfortunately very average.
I gave this vintage EVERY opportunity to reveal itself but this particular bottle s still hiding behind its name. I'm unfortunately dissapointed — 8 years ago
I can't say I have had many 2004's but this was a real treat, still has time left. Good example of a CdP in an average year. I ranked this 3rd for the night. — 9 years ago
Gosh darn I love Nebbiolo! — 9 years ago
2009. I can keep smelling this wine all night if I had to - great nose. Typical red fruit, roses, and a hint of licorice and mint. And the high tannin and acid typical in Barolo are so balanced. Very approachable and enjoyable despite its youth. — 10 years ago

Thought we would check in on one of these. Shy nose, even after 4+ hours. Almost no discernible fruit at this point with a strong savory quality. I love Corison wines and this has great potential but this needs to be forgotten about in the darkest corner of your cellar for 5-10 years more. Drink the regular Napa cab while this one slowly evolves. 89 at this point but possible mid 90’s in 5-10 years. This is a structured beast at this point. — 6 years ago
