Really lovely. Black pepper and blackberry (but not sweet at all), smooth finish, almost no tannins. Still good after the bottle was open 3 days. Would be happy if this was all I drank for a year. — 11 years ago

Ok I am a fan of rieussec especially the 2015 vintage; this one doesn’t stand up anywhere close to the 2015. This 2017 vintage wine is “interesting” as it delivers gewurtz like rose petals mixed in with pineapple and kumquat notes. Clashing with chocolate molten cake (my bad for trying to pair). If you have to try one, try 2015! Unless you can get hold of 2001. Cheers and merry Christmas from Bahia Honda — 6 years ago
This seasonal sake is called “Jumai Ginjo Namzake” from the Harushika Sake Brewery in Nara, Japan. It is insanely smooth sake that has a subtle cherry fragrance and aftertaste without it being too sweet. It’s one of the best sake’s I’ve tasted! — 6 years ago

This is the special Bijofu Junmai Daiginjo sake that Edakuni-San serves us always at Guilo Guilo in Paris. It was unreal!!! — 10 years ago
Name: fermier cuvée Japon
Cépage: Yamabudou/
Vivid red purple to black color.
Scents was started of vanilla, butter toast, red lily, rose, and cherry. Then spicy nuance of cinnamon, chocolate, ink and black pepper made it complex and exotic.
Powerful vibrant acidity and delicate sweetness, smooth tannin.
Very interesting taste!

2013 Sami-Odi Syrah DW-OLD
Thought I’d open something from my favorite Australian producer, @fraser_mckinley, in honor of the start of the Formula 1 Season in Melbourne. (Nice start for my man Max Verstappen and the new Red Bull partnership with Honda). My first and only bottle of the 2013, decanted for 3 hours. 14.4% alcohol. It appears a deep, dark, black hole in the Zalto stem. Nose of dark berries, clove-and-cinnamon and dried fruits, with some forest floor and floral notes in the background. On the palate, rich dark fruits with a cedary tannin. Wonderful acidity. Full-bodied, fresh, rich and complex. Lengthy finish. My recollection is that Fraser told me that 2013 was a difficult year with the entire first fruit being destroyed by frost, and then there was a second set. Always amazes me that these challenging years always seem to produce the most memorable vintages. I’m a big fan of Fraser’s work. — 6 years ago

Can’t compete with the prose that@Bill Bender and @Michael Meyer have already laid out in their notes, but will agree that this was tremendous. Purchased on release and in perfect shape - great fill and not even a drop of wine on the side of the cork. Very classy despite being decanted for an hour in a cheap carafe in a cooler in the back of a Honda Fit on a 90 degree day. 🍷 — 8 years ago
This is very nice indeed. I know most Americans don't like or understand blends, but this is done very well. Fruit forward without being obnoxious, tempered oak influence. Great value. — 10 years ago
Very well balanced. Nice viscosity. Stands up to rich foods, but light enough for sashimi. Very pleasing! At Hana. — 10 years ago

An aperitif wine to engage the palate and build the appetite for dinner on this wet covid day inside. Even Jake won’t go out. This wine isn’t a Ferrari - more like a spiffy Honda with metallic paint and a nice stereo system. Nice wine. — 5 years ago
