Had in Portland, OR at Coquine. Winemaker drafts many different types of varietals - even whites and reds - and let’s everything grow naturally. It was dark, robust and very complex - reminded me of inky of sophisticated great Saint Joseph. — 5 years ago

“The Return of Mike Grammer” Dinner on 7/5. - since the Valentini Cerasuolo was oxidized I’m glad this more than pulled its own weight for the Rosé flight. Very interesting palate and texture. Skin contact and a bit more orange than rosé perhaps. Pepper and watermelon along with some violets. Shouldn’t have given up my local source, as when I went back for more the next day they were sold out. Another interesting wine from Nate Ready under the Hiyu / Smockshop Band label. — 6 years ago

Like nothing I’ve ever had. Great nose of flowers, white pepper, honeysuckle, a touch of melon. Palate is such a great balance of acidity and flavor. Evolves as it opens. Way too easy to drink and went great with a simple chicken dinner. I get some great herbs and honey. So good. — 3 years ago
Smockshop Band is a side project from Nate Reddy and the Hiyu team intended to showcase all that Columbia Gorge has to offer. Unlike literally everything else from Hiyu, this is a terrific value. It’s a rustic mix of red fruits and perfumed acetone - plenty of VA but the far reaching aromatic type that registers deep like a perfume. Unfiltered, robust, tannic, and full of deep cherry, dried strawberry, and sour blackberry. — 4 years ago
