— 15 days ago

Dr. Heidemanns-Bergweiler – Pinot Noir 2022
Mosel – Germany 🇩🇪
Overview
100% Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder in Germany), grown in the cool Mosel climate where slate soils are more often associated with Riesling. This delicate red captures the finesse of the varietal with a distinctly German touch, light-bodied, elegant, and refreshingly pure.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh red cherries and wild strawberries open the bouquet, followed by cranberry, rose petals, and a hint of earthiness. The palate is smooth and silky, with subtle spice and a whisper of minerality from the Mosel terroir.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium-bodied with fine tannins, bright acidity, and a clean, refreshing finish. A Pinot Noir that emphasizes grace and subtlety rather than power.
Food Pairing
Ideal with roasted chicken, pork tenderloin, grilled salmon, or mushroom-based dishes. Also an excellent choice for charcuterie boards or lighter cheeses.
Verdict
An elegant German Pinot Noir showing precision and freshness. For those who love Pinot’s lighter, more ethereal side, this bottle is a delightful discovery. If you’re used to California’s Pinot this may be too light, but I found it refreshingly good. Cheers!
