Hearts And Bones

Domaine Corsin

Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay 2018

More balanced and precise than the ‘17. Apple-blossom, baked bones...along with a concentration and complexity that suggests Pouilly-Fuissé way more than Mâcon. — 5 years ago

La Quercia

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2014

Absolutely love it. Balanced, lots of black fruit, enough meat on its bones to flesh it out just right. — 9 years ago

Domaine Corsin

Vieilles Vignes Saint-Véran Chardonnay 2016

Baked bones, popcorn, pure Chardonnay flavors. Well structured and quite remarkable in its restraint, given the blazing hot growing season. — 6 years ago

Seven of Hearts

Chatte d'Avignon Columbia Valley Grenache Blend 2013

Lighter red wine with a ripe cherry-juice nose. Slightly sour cherry and blackberry flavors. The clarity of fruit and balanced flavors should age well for at least 5 years — 9 years ago

Balcones Distillery

Baby Blue Corn Whiskey

💯 Roasted Blue Corn 🌽 in used oak. Sweet and spicy, very smooth for type and price. Aged 6mos - 1.5 Years. Very polished for a young Whiskey. Hearts cuts and good wood. — 6 years ago

Garnier et Fils

Chablis Chardonnay

Initially, I drank this by itself and thought it was a bit flabby for a proper Chablis (maybe this is related to the warm 2015 vintage?). Had that chalkiness, green apple and decent acidity, but on day 2, paired with mild Italian sausage, roasted red potatoes w/ fennel and rosemary, and garlicky roasted broccoli, the little extra meat on this wine’s bones really shined. Even put some Dijon mustard on the plate and again (maybe some geographic psynergy) this had enough fruit and creaminess to hold up to the spice and vinegar. If I bought this again I’d definitely plan for some food to bring out its best qualities. Rating 9.0 for the pairing but 8.7 on its own. — 7 years ago

Seven of Hearts

Bjornson Vineyards Pinot Noir 2012

Love Seven of Hearts. Love Bjornson Vineyards. Love this wine. A match made in heaven. — 8 years ago

Heitz Cellar

Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Heitz has still got it baby, 1998 Napa cab standing up nicely at 18 years old. The color is only just showing signs of age. The nose is full of mint and lamb. In a strange spot since its not especially lush or fruity and yet hasn't fully developed the tertiary notes you would expect. But has the bones to go longer still. — 9 years ago
