Last night, a buddy of mine who’s a Disabled Veteran and Registered Architect, announced that he was assuming control of a SDVOSB Architecture firm. He had spent the better part of a year of trying to reach a purchase agreement. So it was an evening of celebration. He’s been a Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars fan for some time and he planned to pull the cork on a few bottles. We had a couple of rando bottles too but all were California Cabernet Sauvignon. This was the opening salvo and a very good one at that. Perfumed, lush, velvety fruit with lovely structure. Hugely quaffable and already drinking very well with a short decant but I think this is pretty characteristic of the 2014 vintage. — 6 years ago
Pale light yellow gold. Lively constant tiny bubbles. Deep round nose with high pitched fruit. Notes of pear, grapefruit, chalk and limestone. With more air you find some citrus and honeysuckle. Chewy in the mouth with great mouthfeel. Coats the entire mouth. Long finish lingers a minute or more. Velvet. Killer juice. Was inspired to open one of these after seeing a friend’s TN this weekend. Glad I did. — 6 years ago

Gold copper. Wildly fragrant. Flower shop, cured meats, pepper, tangy peach. M+ body, sour, light bitterness. Long skin maceration gives it a slight stick of tannin. Awesome. — 8 years ago
Light golden color, nose with cream and baking spices, fresh apple pie. Palate has gold apple, green melon, vanilla, little bit of oak spice. Little bit rich (partial malo) but not overwhelming. Medium acids. round finish. has potential many more years of maturation. #latour #grandcru #cortoncharlemagne — 9 years ago
Nice regal gold hue. Amazing pit fruit and wet stone nose. Plus notes of apricot, white clay soil, salty ocean breeze and some Raveneau honey on the finish. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Coats the palate with lots of fruit and fine grained acidity. I’ve had this a few times and this was at its best. Great Raveneau at age 30 is an amazing treat. — 5 years ago
Medium gold. Nice weight. Citrus and sea shell nose. Also notes of white stones, sweet kiwi and some tan spice. Rich and powerful in the mouth, a bit disjointed, but it began to come together with air. Shows a little more age than I would expect but its a nice drink now. — 6 years ago
I feel that this is probably the best Pinot Noir producer out of the finger lakes although the competition is finally a good one. The nose has a wonderful aroma of currant a plum with undertones of spice including nutmeg and mulling spices. The palate is gorgeously light and elegant but still somewhat juicy at the same time. Flavors of plum, sour cherry and baking spice along with wonderfully balance acidity. The finish is soft and elegant with juicy fruit notes of lingering acidity. Wow... a great pairing for roasted pork. — 7 years ago
Rich and mouthfilling with notes of brioche toast, lemon curd and almonds. Love ‘02. — 7 years ago
Consumed 12/2017. Full rich flavors of berry, Cassis and black cherry with hints of vanilla in the background. Aging with French oak adds complexity and depth, resulting in a high-quality Cabernet with great value. For me, this wine has to breath for a couple of hours before I like it. — 7 years ago
Dark gold in color with an intense nose with lots of kick. Good acid and a lovely round palate. Citrus, and minerality. Almost sizzles on the finish. Powerful — 8 years ago
First vintage bottled under the new Eagle Peak AVA. Already drinking fantastic out of the bottle with a perfectly perfumed nose and a texture that tells you stems were involved during fermentation. About 15% carbonic maceration on this vintage. — 9 years ago
1986 Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur" , Domaine Raveneau:
showing signs of gentle oxidation, a bright gold color and an almost creamy texture with a subtly toasty finish that paired beautifully with the superb cuisine at Restaurant Gary Danko--SANTÉ! — 10 years ago
Dark gold in color with a deep nose with honeyed fruit and a hint of mint on the end. A lovely oily mouthfeel. Some spice, confit lemon, orange, and a little sandalwood. Acidity fully integrated and a lovely roundness. Beautiful. — 5 years ago
Tour d’Argent. Surprisingly young color, light gold. At first it’s soft and delicate. With air it shows notes of citrus, tan spice, white clay, minerals and some cardamom. Starts with great fruit and has structure and acidity that builds with air. There’s a sweetness that stays with it over 3 hours. Great wine. — 6 years ago
Distinct flavors. Dark black cherry. Chocolate and tobacco. Smell and taste the terroir. — 7 years ago
Yellow gold. Nice weight. Floral and mineral nose. Notes of honeysuckle, powdered stone, peach, lemon, white dirt and some cardamom. In the mouth it's rich and coats with nice acidity. Coche-like in its delivery tonight. One of the better Roulot 05 performances for me. — 7 years ago
Fresh, light gold. Bright and vibrant in the glass. Even more vibrant in the nose. Exotic, notes of lemon peel, wet river stone, petrol, slate, apricot and spice. Great rich fruit matches some impactful acidity. Long finish. This is great juice, still young, and has some more to give down the road. — 7 years ago

From a great looking bottle with high fill and perfect cork. Yellow gold and heavy weight in the glass. Bright tropical nose with notes of citrus fruit, river stone, petrol, clove and orange peel. Nice and round in the mouth but still with great acidity. Coats the taste buds. This was better in the first two hours than when compared to the last 4 hours. Paired well with cold heirloom tomato gazpacho soup. — 9 years ago
Your favourite, most chalky, mineraly and musty-citrusy Champagne....without the bubbles. 100% Pinot Noir with a beautiful line of acidity. French soul. Dying to know what this will taste like in 10 years, suspect it would beat some GC white burgs blind. Find this if you can. — 10 years ago

Medium gold color. Sweet nose. Notes of apricot, quince, kiwi, fig and white peach. Rich and impactful in the mouth. Sneaky acidity. With air the wine exhibits more mineral notes and the Leflaive petrol type thing I love. Good stuff. — 4 years ago
