Hang Loose

Jules Taylor

Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Just opened this lovely wine, gifted to me from another female winemaker, Jules, of Jules Taylor, who makes a really beautiful Pinot Noir as well. Bright but nice weight and length in this. Viscous. Apple. Lychee. Makes me want to go to New Zealand and hang out with her. — 9 years ago

Domaine Lafage

Miraflors Rosé Blend 2014

A near perfect rosé at a great price. I prefer this soft fruit tempered by a light floral note all properly and proportionately positioned against a mineral intensive rocky bottom as swift waters twist and turn their way downstream leaving one's palate clean and refreshed but laced with the memory of the moment😎🌀 - buy the magnum at my favorite local Morehead City, NC hang - Promise Land Market (thx sweet Janeen and Daniel for spinning some crazy sweet tunage!)! Find this place in all its realness, and drink this wine! — 10 years ago

Some browning on the edges suggests that the wine is showing some age. Bright fruit on the nose with pomegranate, cherry pie filling, and notes of truffle. The palate was silky with just the right balance of oak, acid, and tannins. Based on the color, I would suggest drinking over the next 5 years instead of trying to hang on. — 10 years ago

Trinchero Napa Valley

Haystack Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Big wine. Roses on the nose, fragrant deep aroma. Very tannic, really needed more time. Chewy rich mouthfeel with flavors of plum skin and black pepper. I recommend letting this one hang out for another two years or so. Needs a very fatty ribeye to cut the tannins. — 9 years ago

Heavy Seas Beer

Loose Cannon American IPA

This is my new go-to. Full of flavor, robust, and just the right amount of hops. Plus brewed in MD. What more do you need?? — 10 years ago

William Hill Estate Winery

Bench Blend Napa Valley Petit Verdot 2012

Big tannin on the front followed by beautifully balanced fruit. A long, luxurious, complex, oaky finish that will hang on until tomorrow. 93% PV 7%Cab. Sauv. — 10 years ago

Olivier Jouan

Vieilles Vignes Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir 2012

Fuck. I can't stop drinking this. This wine bar across from my kitchen is draining my wallet on getting in bed with this girl. Pure relaxation, so silky, so balanced...the minerals, the cherries, the mysteries of every sip. Open for 10 minutes, open for 2 hours, doesn't matter, she's tight, she's loose, she's so gorgeous and quiet. Fuck. I gotta get out of here. — 10 years ago

Busted loose the 2008 to assess early drinking potential. A sacrifice of one bottle for five. Honestly, there is something about 2008 Brunellos that are less austere/classic than 2006, but do not possess that tiny bit of burn from the heat of 2007. So, drink earlier (now) or wait for another 4-7 years. 2008s are drinkers and keepers. — 10 years ago

Coltibuono

Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2012

2012 badia a coltibuobo estate chianti classico. Extremely pretty. "We've identified 170 grape varieties in the old chianti blends. " if you ever get a chance you hang with Roberto do it! Conversation topics he's enlightening on include biodynamic farming, sangiovese clonal selection history, chianti subzone terrior, the Milan concert seen of the early 70's, the velvet underground, hitchhiking the American west safely and efficiently, Fela Kuti, southern Oregon communes, biodiversity in vineyards, macro economic theory and sangiovese as a soil amplifier. Roberto speaks softly and carries a massive wit. #greatpeopleofwine — 10 years ago
