So glad I tried some of Mike's syrahs this year. Just awesome aromatics with each site bringing something to the table. Great meaty notes that remind you are drinking a syrah and not some manipulated red wine. No hint of heat. Stemmy of course but the fruit is there. Been hunting Ojai Syrahs for a while, and worth the effort. This had nicely mellowed with age to well balanced, mildly spicy rich dark fruit with a nice inner sweetness. Mouthfilling with good length, along with the Halcon Alturas I had recently, this is the first Cali Syrah I’ve enjoyed. Have I found my spot on the Central Coast? — 6 years ago

Light cherry red with thin edges. Floral aromatics on the nose along with notes of dark fruits and mild spice. This was such a surprising little gem. That sweet, sweet Anderson Valley fruit shines here. Light bodied with wonderful balance, there’s a freshness going on that really pleases. More dark fruits, mint, dry herbs, and white flowers on the palate. Really nice the first day, even better the second. This is a Pinot lover’s Pinot. — 6 years ago

Delicious wine from a rare variety planted in a very unique site in the NorCal mountains. Not expecting the multitude of happy sensations received whilst imbibing. Shared with woman life partner. She seemed to enjoy as well. Spicy cove, tobacco, expired yet indelible black pepper ever present. 15 minutes in, dark fruit core begins to show. This wine is structured. Fierce, gripping tannin grabbed me like a thief in a dark alley. I really like the seriousness of this wine esp since it hails from a very unknown areas. It's nice right now but id like to see this wine in my glass in 3 years. 13.5%. — 8 years ago
