Excellent bottle of Oregon Pinot for less than $30. — 9 years ago
Absolutely love this blend, the bit of Port makes it uniquely sweet. Fantastic. Blend #6 — 9 years ago
Still young after 11 years! Cinnamon spice, white pepper spice, eucalyptus, tobacco, leather, integrated with a nice balance of red fruits and oak, nice tannins and complexity.. — 9 years ago
One of the greatest barrel aged beers around. So glad these are offered in only 12oz bottles and drinking one during a 30 degree night is much better than a hot summers day at HotD. Time was better spent drinking seasonable IPAs then tackling 12+% abv. Still though, top notch Alan don't change a thing. Raisins, anise, caramel, vanilla, and coffee after notes. Complexity - master level. — 10 years ago
A bitchin' local! One notch down from Snake dog, but great for after a bit of hard graft. — 10 years ago
Amazingly youthful, almost painfully intense and unyielding even with time in a decanter. Light lemon color. Sulfur, citrus and a hint of damp dog/wet wool on the nose. Massive acidity on the palate, like drinking grapefruit infused rainwater filtered through granite. And at the end some notes of green tea but otherwise it didn't budge an inch. Impressive but impossible to say when it might begin to soften. — 10 years ago
2009: quite dense appearance; ripe black / red fruit w a faint touch of horse hair (Brett ); generously proportioned attack of ripe red and black fruit, leads onto medium weight palate which finishes fruitfully but without the verve of a "classic" vintage. A satisfying and quite delicious drink without being memorable. A lot of 09 burgundies would fit these descriptors. — 10 years ago
South Australia - blend - "beware of the yard dog". — 11 years ago
Super huge grapey nose. But very pure and nuanced. From Mauves. Very granitic soil. More tannin. Velvety. Very sweet fruit and a bit of dog biscuit in a good way. Profound! — 11 years ago
A true piece of work from Russell. Very aromatic, deep cheery, a little bit of coffee bean. Well rounded and great! — 9 years ago
Strong finish, good overall wine — 9 years ago
Smooth AF. Fruity, touch of citrus. Great Pinot, especially for the price. — 10 years ago
55 Viognier 35 Semillon 10 Riesling on this vintage. White peach, yellow apple, tangerine, melon, yellow flowers and honeysuckle, mineral back end. Fresh, pretty crisp and floral. No need for the cone of shame on this one! — 10 years ago
WOTN in heavy fire. Beat out the XXL and five shooter. Definitely a 3-1 under dog in this fight but it gets the belt. 5 hr slow oxed then down the hatch. So polished, deep and dark.... Manfred is a mad scientist with this stuff. This is the wine that changes your perception of what great really can be. — 10 years ago
One of the finest peaty single malts ever. The long gone 17 year old batch was superior by a hair, but this is some of the finest. Like a bed of sweet moss, misted with brine and caramel. — 10 years ago
Didn't get to taste this last night; too many great wines. A little hair o'the dog this morning. Tight and brambly nose with a hint of eucalyptus, a palate of red fruits and loads of acidity, but with enough finesse to bring it all together. Smooth tannins and a bit of herbs on the long finish. Worth the price? Hmm. — 10 years ago
2011 vintage. 3/4 bottle, tasted on day 3. Napa Valley all the way. Creamy oak overtones dominate, though are enjoyable ;) Dark fruit skins. Pencil lead. Hints of peppery, tobacco. Simple, yet enjoyable. I've been enjoying the 2011 Napa Cabs with a few days of air. 13.5% on label! Haven't seen that often lately. Thank you 2011 for a more Bordeaux styled vintage. — 11 years ago
Cab sauv, petit Verdot, cab franc, merlot, Malbec, a dog, three creeks and some finger painting. — 12 years ago
Great choice of Shiraz to slow cook lamb shanks in. Took them to the next level. — 9 years ago
60% Tannat
30% Cab Sauv
10% Syrah
A great, great amount of patience in the decanter is rewarded with a nose of sweet lavender and distant hints of fruit and dust. Soft, lush fruit in the mouth leads to the slightest little hint of spice in an otherwise smooth finish. A great bottle for sure. I love the fact that I've still got another one in the cellar to "forget" about for a few more years. — 9 years ago
Thanks NZ, this wine is just as I remembered! Freshly roasted coffee beans, bright minerality, rich mouthfeel cut with nice acidity and delicate layers of oak. — 10 years ago
Very interesting wine.. Cassis, cherry with a hint of dog on the nose. Currant, blackberry and cocoa on the palate.. There's a hint of smoke lingering through out. Nice long finish.. I need to try more.... — 10 years ago
Better after 24 hours of air. Fresh cranberries with great acid. Perfect midweek wine to accompany steak or salmon equally. — 10 years ago
Delicious... Going great with meatloaf and mash for dinner tonight... — 11 years ago
Made by Jennifer and Herb Lamb, my favorite SB in CA! Blended with 3 clones of SB, they all show through, but, as it should be, the final product is greater than any individual component. They are also HUGE dog lovers! A plus for me. — 12 years ago
