Great but small distribution Pinot. One of the early Santa Rita Hills' Pinots. Great fruit on the nose. 2008 drinking very well. Unique bottle is just an added extra touch. — 9 years ago

Understand the wine maker raises honey bees. The honey flavor is evident among the other classic Pinot Noir qualities.

Not sure about the Gypsy stuff on the label. A good Tempranillo from Rioja . — 8 years ago
Very good cab. Smooth with dark fruit. — 9 years ago
Onomatopoeia like oompf, bam and kaplow. Mega! Yellow flowers, yellow apples, apricot, clovers and tinge of gypsy tears. — 9 years ago
2011 Sol Rouge Gypsy Rouge. This month's Gold Label Wine Club Plus wine is a very earthy blend, punctuated by the Grenache. It has an almost metallic finish. It's smooth throughout and I like that the flavor evolves from start to finish. — 10 years ago
Lovely old world style of Pinot. Pure fruit with precise focus on the red fruits — 10 years ago
Opened this to put the kibosh on Alabama. And it smells like it just might have those powers. Founded by John Alban in 1989, Alban Vineyards is the first American winery and vineyard established exclusively for Rhône varietals. Jeb Dunnuck said “One of the best entry-level wines out there is John's 2012 Syrah Patrina, and it competes with many top cuvees.” I wholeheartedly agree. Patrin is a gypsy word for leaf and grass blades. By mounding up patrin in specific configurations called Patrina, Gypsies mark secret trails that kinsmen can follow to special gathering places. Patrina guide these nomads to the site of what starts out as a simple get together underscored with wine and song. These bohemian celebrations of nothing in particular inevitably escalate with great abandon into wildly hedonistic carousing.
Aromatically virile. Intense aromas of black raspberry and kirsch, star anise, white flowers, violets, pepper, and baking spices. The palate is equally potent and sports a black fruit infused with red fruit character. The lush and ripe fruit is buttressed by layers of licorice, lavender pastille, chocolate, and cured meats. An all-time favorite of mine. — 8 years ago

Cannot believe we found this wine again! Brings back amazing memories of being in Kew Gardens, listening to the Gypsy Kings, and sipping this complex and elegant blockbuster! Fresh star fruit, pistachios, almonds, pineapple, orange blossom, lemon rind, mango, the list goes on, on, and on. Fantastic find! My first 10 point rating. — 10 years ago
