Full body Chenin - toasted almonds, exotic fruits - marvelous drop ! — 9 years ago
2005 vintage. From Jay. 2005 Bartolo Mascarello - Brief Note from Galloni Historical Retrospective Held in London April 26, 2016. Vintage was saved by technology. Weather radar showed that there were rain showers on the way and Maria Teresa choose to pick before the rain. Graceful wine. Lovely nose of pencil shavings and mountain flowers. Charming restrained nose of fruit. Great balance. Tannins have yet to fully resolve but are elegant. Great finish with medium plus length. When revisited 30 mins later it was starting to drop off. 92/100. Drink now to 2020.

Stills needs a little time out of the bottle to relax. A little tight on the finish and has the middle drop out a little. Overall a delicious and smooth wine if slightly too tannic. 2. Spoke too soon. After 1 hr out of bottle this totally mellowed and is drinking more like a Dr Crane. Fantastic! — 10 years ago
Always such a pleasure to drink his wines. Notes of earth, garrigue, cocoa, bubble gum, and dusty tannins. Delicious. — 10 years ago
Oh the purity! This wine has it all - a fine bead, a dazzling hawthorne and acacia aroma tinged with lemon drop that just jumps out of the glass, bracing acidity, flinty depth and a luscious lemon curd finish. Here is vintnervwho is as skillful a vignette as he is a grower. It's beautiful to behold, a classic Blanc de blancs — 10 years ago
Funky earth on the nose, new world dark jammy fruit on the palate, herbal finish — 10 years ago
Made me go, "Wow!" — 9 years ago
Outstanging , loved every drop looking for more — 10 years ago
In der Nase sehr Balsamisch, Noten von Sojasauce und Liebstöckel sowie Brombeeren. Warm und weich am Gaumen, feine Frucht und elegantes, würziges Tannin. — 10 years ago
The glass greets you with bright red fruit and a touch of sweat. Cherries and cranberries mingle with a touch of mineral that finish a drop early. — 10 years ago
2007 // honey and wax // lively acid // nothing to see here folks if you have any, drop off to your nearest friend named justin Anthony — 10 years ago
Great Pinot- twist top might make it the go-to for BYO. Has a little bit of a bubble gum flavor that I don't like, but overall a great wine — 11 years ago
Ruby red color, a nose of cherries, pepper, and american oak on the finish. Medium body with a gentle peak of acidity that gives way to a prickly, slightly bitter tannic finish. Nice balance for a young Aussie! — 11 years ago
This is a big beautiful glass of wine. Deep rich dark fruits aromas beckon you to drink. Full body, smooth and delicious to the last drop. Hints of spice and ripe fruit will linger nicely. We did decant this for about ninety minutes. Well worth the wait. I am can't wait to see how this develops in five or so years. — 8 years ago
Wow In a flight of chateau montelena and caymus 85s this drop kicked them out of the room. Hints of Brett but adds to the complexity of black olive, camphor, Dried fruits and herbs. Patrick Campbell made so many great wines and does not get enough credit this wine sings, bravo. — 9 years ago
90/100 This region is for me definitely. This is not as hedonistically upfront as the Cloudy Bay, more subtle but presents a better finish. You do however have to reach further for the nose.
Loads of tropical citrus, lime, pineapple, gooseberry, grapefruit as you would expect, though lots more on the palate than in the nose. Excellent mouthfeel, here it wins.
The finish is linear, no drop off and so scores the same as CB but a different experience.

Very nice drop with a multi-course meat dinner! — 10 years ago
Decanted for 2 hours. VHR rewards you for the wait. Color is light suggesting a simple body. Body is tall and complex. I savored every drop. A treat. — 11 years ago
Cheap. Simple. But wonderful for such a penny! — 12 years ago

09’ This is singing @Mike R Another wine from Mike- If this wasn’t the WOTN, it was damn close. Black fruits, black licorice, blackberry jam, floral notes, smokiness. This is a drop dead gorgeous wine. A very polished wine!! Especially from this vintage. There’s no need to hold onto this any longer. Drink them up in the next 10+ years. — 7 years ago
