Merlot and pv in the mix they have four vineyards and both wines are made from the same vineyards 500 cases of this label and 250 cases of the checkerboard a very well endowed bouquet dark currant berry fruit dark spices and 26 months in oak very smooth and elegant style with lots of juicy fruit well balanced rich fruit and wonderful balance and a long layered finish. 2004 vintage. From Jay. 2004 Bartolo Mascarello - Brief Note from Galloni Historical Retrospective Held in London April 26, 2016. Dark ruby colour. Fresh violets on the nose together with cherries. A little tobacco wrapper. Cracked cloves. Nice fruit on the pallet and very silky. This is both elegant and old school in all the right ways. 92+/100. Drink 2017 to 2028+ — 8 years ago
