Santenay Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir 2011

The door was only partially open, but the glimpse inside revealed strawberry and cherry accented with minty underbrush, herbs, and stone. The lively acid is cut short by a wall of tannins. Loads of savoriness, but will be better in a year or two. — 9 years ago

Not as enjoyable as the last bottle a couple of years ago. Time to drink up. These don't age as well as the Eldridge Pope brewed versions (1999 and earlier), but still at least offer a glimpse of the greatness. — 9 years ago

Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2012

Viscous and soulful. If you are looking for a value amarone to give you a nice glimpse into this varietal, this is the bottle. Thick and juicy, syrupy and dark fruitish, this is a winter wine that will knock your sox off. The blood of a guido. — 10 years ago

at first glimpse it is german riesling, loads of exotic fruit and stones.
but it was the first time i reckoned a certain sauternes touch in a non-sauternes wine, my nose impression still rang the sauternes bell even after the product got discovered.

East Ridge Pinot Noir 2014

Elegance to the absolute extreme! Perhaps a bit youthful and unleashed, yet so sexy and ever so convincing. A potpourri of fresh and perfectly ripe, almost electrical fruit, with a teasing glimpse (soubois) on what is lying beneath on the nose. A mesmerizing flavor intensity that is coming in waves, and the length… well it is still liingering. Beautiful! — 9 years ago

A glimpse into the future of Yarra Valley perhaps? A Bordeaux blend with remarkable balance. Young definitely, but very approachable now. Cassis dominates, darks fruits basically, spice, cedar, herbs, earth. Beautiful tannins, excellent oak use, and persistent finish. — 9 years ago

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

I know this wine will be great in another 10...but I feel like I was getting a glimpse of its plateau this year. 12 wasn't the best year in Pauillac, but I am thoroughly enjoying the vintage across the board of left bank Bordeaux. It was showing that world class Pauillac nose - cigar box, gravelly/loamy soil, and mulled fruit. The pallet is nice and rich but not necessarily fruit forward, exhibiting flavors of stewed black plum, red apple skin, vanilla and espresso bean, and a lovely finish. This also made a great wine for our Cigars. — 9 years ago

I remember 1st time reading the wine note , I 'm confused by all these words such as linden flower ,gooseberry,genet,locust.... Growing up in Asia,I am not familiar with so many fruits or woods I 've never seen in supermarket, I thought a wine note should be able to reduce the complexity of the tasting of wine , not the other way around. I could not find a way to resolve this till I meet this wine. When I taste cask23 , after a sip of of FAY, another sip of S.L.V and sips of some white, I felt like finally I meet the goddess. If FAY is a fair lady, SLV is a leaping stag or elf, Cask 23 is the godness. I could not find a other word to describe this wine characteristics overall , not by naming it after fruits, the complexity, elegancy, as well as amazing glimpse, everything makes her a prefect lady. A real goddess beats Old world wine in 1976 XD💪💃💃🎈👍😄 — 11 years ago

Côte de Bouqueyreaux Bougros Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2010

Color me a proud mother. You know what, don't color me at all. Was relieved this showed no signs of premox. A subtle wine that afforded glances of elements followed by a glimpse of the whole. Toasted oak was a nice, subtle frame, and a layer of tropicality emerged as a nice feature. Racy and almost stingy at first, with increasing length as the hours passed. In an adolescent stage but with great bones. — 12 years ago
