Bear Flag Wine

Dark California Red Blend

Good taste. Didn’t make me stuffy even though I drank the whole bottle. — 3 years ago

Viña Ventisquero

Grey [Glacier] Single Block Trinidad Vineyard Carménère 2017

This is a beautiful Carménère, all earthy and full of savory minerality. The blackberry and black plum aromas creep through the smell of that dirt with tar, forest floor and tobacco all over them. A hint of vanilla sweetens the sniff a bit. On the palate, the dark fruit is draped in sweet oak spice, and you’ll find a bucketful of tannins until the glass has been sitting for awhile. This is a steak wine, intended for a big, juicy piece of beef. — 5 years ago

Red Newt Cellars

Glacier Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Franc 2014

A surprising wine - more the color of Pinot Noir than a classic cab Franc but so aromatic and elegant. Medium ruby, gorgeous nose of violet, leather, black olive, forest floor and blackberry.
Medium plus acidity, very long finish

Domaine des Ardoisières

Argile Blanc Allobroges St. Pierre de Soucy Jacquère Blend 2019

#1 of Jura Savoie evening
40/40/20 blend of Chardonnay / Jacquard and Mondeuse Blanc
Clear & pure as a alpin glacier.
Shy herbs, salty notes and faint whiff of underripe lemon.
On the palate this is crisp, lean and so juicy. Great purity and minerality. So devoid of fruit and yet with a lot of character. This is surprisingly nice and highly drinkable.

Zaca Mesa

Black Bear Block Syrah 2014

This will only get better with age and it’s already terrific. The biggest takeaway for me was the lingering taste of hot chocolate mix; subtle but undeniable. The bouquet is stuffed with cedar shavings, the dark fruit is strong but not obnoxious and the tannins coat the tongue, rather than attack it. — 6 years ago

Very nice wine, Everyone liked this one. Maybe 1 notch too spicy for my cab tongue, I preferred the long shadow kidder — 4 years ago

California Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Great wine for the money. Fruit forward. Soft for a cabernet. Not much oak. Very fruit forward for a cabernet. — 4 years ago

Viña Ventisquero

Grey [Glacier] Single Block Trinidad Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

This wine is dark and savory. The black fruit comes along with cedar, vanilla and a chalky earth tone. Nothing like Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, but more in line with Paso Robles. Lots of South American minerals having a bit of roughhouse here. — 5 years ago

Hearst Ranch Winery

Glacier Ridge Chardonnay

2016- Bright green apple, pear, nectarine, lemon curd, a touch of sweet cream. Taste is bright, high acid, moderate phenolic bitterness. Medium body, dry through the middle lead to a silky finish. Normally I HATE chards but this is the kind I like. Virtually no barrel/mallow. Fruit focused and clean. Love it. — 7 years ago
