Hitting its stride. Well balanced with smooth finish. Dare I say a little Burgundian - very light with a touch of cherry. — 8 years ago
Very interesting. Super dark but very bright. Lots of juicy acidity and jammy. Not very tannic, medium to light bodied but with a lot of up-front savoriness. Strawberries, unripe blackberry, even some citrus peel, prune, some blue ballpoint pen, and funkiness. From Shawn's. — 9 years ago
Wonderful plums and dark fruits with a hint of leather on the palate and nose. Enjoyed it with an eggplant-sun dried tomato pasta and chicken sautéed in an Italian odori base. Fabuloso! — 9 years ago
This went better with the grouper. — 10 years ago
Good cherry and floral bouquet — 10 years ago
Didn't get the spiel on this one -- seemed slightly leesy but dunno if that's the case — 11 years ago
Always like badly turned. A lot of apples, pears and some other elements on the nose. Somewhat the same on taste with a nice finish. — 10 months ago

One of the best wines I’ve had in my life. Truly spectacular. All the things were there. Structure, balance, the fruits of Barolo, all of it. No sense in going over it. Memorable to say the least — 5 years ago
9/1/19 - 2017 wine, had with Nana, Papa, and Sydnee, at Gennaro's in Canyon Lake. Good wine to start off with. — 6 years ago
First taste is juicy very full bodied earth tones and well balanced acidity. — 9 years ago
Nice sour cherry taste to it. Pretty balanced and opened up to have pine needle Forrest kind of aromas. Merry Christmas all — 10 years ago
Mature and ripe but tasty — 11 years ago
Soooo smooth!!! This is a great wine with no tannins! Great choice for any occasion! Kind of a stronger wine. Definitely recommend! — 12 years ago
2015 vintage from magnum.
Bright ruby colour.
Perfumed nose with cherry, plums and dark flowers.
Smooth and savoury with medium acidity, red fruits, earthy, herbs and well developed rounded tannins.
This wine is food friendly.
I got a kilo of local Matsutake mushrooms from a forager friend and made risotto.

Sept 28, 2019. J2’s 5th bonus year celebration. TW Concierge offering April 2017. Purchased this and the Amarone. This is s solid Ripasso. Tart cherries, of course but not overpowering. Smooth, no pepper, hint of chocolate. 70% Corvina, 30% Rondinella. I believe Villa Cavarena is an Allegrini family label, from their Co-op? Definitely Allegrini quality and for <$20/bottle, what’s not to like??? — 6 years ago
Ram loved it. — 7 years ago
Yeasty, urine-colored bubbles, sunk thru the foamy sand. — 9 years ago
Excellent recommendation by Olivia @PCorkscrew and @CypressGrovers Midnight Moon cheese pairing. — 10 years ago
1990 Allegrini La Poja. Beautiful bright red fruit, acid there but so is the alcohol. Nice overall. Will keep an eye out. — 10 years ago
At the end of its life, if you have this drink it now. — 11 years ago

Decanted for about nine hours. Fresh raspberries, cherries, and a bit of mushrooms. Very elegant. Full-bodied, but not quite as powerful as other Barolos I’ve had over the years. — 7 months ago
