Light woody slight acidity. Perfect for apéro !! — 7 years ago
CVed 1/26/18. Second of three. Strong funk on nose literal barnyard manure but gradually blew off into iron earthy fall leaves with mature cherry notes. Palate balanced and lithe, long finish. Good recovery! Origin unknown. Must be early Gordon's. Note: even overnight the empty glass with a bit of wine still shows that earthy funk but in a poorest way. Terroir indeed! Opened 2/22/18. Wow so not at all prominent funk on the nose! If anything a bit reticent. Cork in perfect shape. Wonder why. Great balance on package and long finish. Perfect pairing with pasta red sauce eggplant. Yum. Upping score by one. — 7 years ago

This is a solid every day red, good with chicken, sausage, pasta, cheese, marinara sauce dishes, and the likes. Nose of raspberry (a lot of it), pepper, allspice, and a sweet floral note I can’t quite put my nostrils on. There’s a slick acidity that keeps your mouth salivating and minimal tannin and very lovely fruit juice. It’s medium to light body makes this quite gulp-able. Solid price point too. — 6 years ago
House wine at restaurant in Siena. Very nice Chianti. Not my personal favorite as it’s a bit dry but still very drinkable. Similar to wine at Gianni Franzi — 7 years ago
Last bottle purchased at the winery 14 years ago! Our 39th today, celebrating at Gianni! Terri bought us some champagne to open the evening while the wine decant. Man ...its FANTASTIC right now, leather, black fruits, and very deep color......deep dark ruby! Outstanding, and enjoying with me bride! — 7 years ago
Nice blend!!! Pepper aroma very smooth and soft tannins! Spicy wine.... — 8 years ago
Nose: grape - almost artificial, like a popsicle. Dirt, dried leaves. “Fumey.” White pepper. Plum skin (tannic smell). Alcohol smell.
Palette: tannic, dries out gums (right away). Round/full. Smokey. Juicy - grape, plum, berry. Jammy. — 5 years ago
Great wine, need more — 6 years ago

Pop and pour. Vinous note suggested early drinking, CT tasting notes suggest waiting. Split the difference? I was expecting a fruit-forward modern-styled barolo, and while this definitely leans modern, it is not over-the-top. In fact, quite charming at this stage. On the nose: classic blood orange, soft florals, but modern sandalwood inflections, with some dried strawberry secondary notes. On the palate: excellent acidity, bitter herbs, dried raspberry, dried sage, and soft plum. Serious tannin kicks in, but the finish is juicy enough that most food pairings will soften the tannic blow. Tipping the scales at a burly 14.5% ABV, but this is surprisingly nimble. I really enjoyed this... — 4 years ago
