Holy cow, this was good. Liquid blackberry pie with loads of balanced structure. I wouldn't have guessed it was 9 years old. — 11 years ago
Según gamba esta a toda madre — 13 years ago
Crazy good paired with dipping into gamba al ajillo (emphasis added), at Napa's groovy/real Zuzu, catching a classic deeply dirty nose while still sporting sun-drenched fruit that initially reworks one's first blush front mouth with an iodine edge that morfs into red and black fruit edgy with acid/tannin slow dancing to the depths and begging for another pinch of broth soaked chewy freshly baked bread and the associated next swig of this sweet juice...rhythmically stellar by day or by night😎🌌👣🍷🌀🎼
PS hit Zuzu (friendly, delicious and real...

What an unusual wine: from an old grape cultivated by few, on only 6 hectares!
2008, 13%, bottle tasted in January 2015.
Color: rich and intense, slightly dark orange, but limpid.
Nose: ethereal, a bit alcoholic, intense, very spicy, green pepper, clove, and balsamic too (pine tree).
Taste: very fresh, good acidity, smooth tannins, long persistence, good body, powdery, beeswax.

Staggeringly beautiful and rarest of the rare Vin Santo -- Occhio di Pernice. Filippo Rocchi makes it with his dad and sister. — 11 years ago

Big bold and beautiful. The bouquet flies out of the glass. My little brother introduced to Gamba and loved it since. The 2011 Starr Road brings everything black in fruit. Black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry and even a little bit of black currant. Mellow tannins give a lasting finish that slides down like liquid silk. — 11 years ago
Occhio di Pernice DOC is a Vinsanto produced in a rosé style utilizing both red and white varietals. Normally one would use Sangiovese to achieve this, but in this case the varietals used are Trebbiano and San Colombano, or Colombana nera. Simply amazing. — 11 years ago
