Bomb! Imperial Stout

Vanilla panacotta, molten chocolate, coconut and brownie nose. Big depth of flavor, with the pepper bringing heat from the get-go! Rich, mocha espresso and vanilla throughout, and just enough fire to light the fuse! — 8 years ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2012

My second french bottle of the weekend in support of Charlie. Each glass just gets better with this elegant Pinot. A very full and well rounded Pinot out of the Kardasian mold. Different fruits layered tightly together where none jump out but rather blend harmoniously with a bit of spice box Jerry lighting the fuse. That is how I can best describe this offering, an elegant harmony. Vive Charlie! — 9 years ago

Gordo Yecla Monastrell Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

9.0

Intoxicating aromatics of black licorice, blackberry, and dark plums lead into a well integrated palate showing off French oak influence. Allspice, cloves, ginger fuse perfectly with solid acidity and a velvety finish. — 8 years ago

Le Porusot Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

As lovely as a I recall when I was first mesmerized by this wine. Saline, citrus, tons of minerality and well integrated oak fuse together nicely to bring an elegant and pure expression of Meursault. — 9 years ago

Twelve Oaks Esate Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc 2014

A really transparent Pinot Blanc, but one with heft and an almost agave, green fuse, mineral scent. Quite bewitching! New label! From the same 12 Oaks vineyard as their best Pinot Noir.... — 8 years ago

12 Year Burgundy Wood Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Cantaloupe rind, grape-y feet, lemon seed, darjeeling tea with lemon zest, sugar sculpture, wheat biscuit nose over cork oak. Hazelnut, oak, brimming with acanthus and a tight spiral of cinnamon oil and cherry cough drop. Loosens to reveal fig, orange bitters, peppercorn, brushy evergreen shrubs, campfire wood smoldering hot to smoky resins, juniper, smoke-point olive oil, and singed paper. Remember this having a sweetness at bottle's dawn, but alas, dear chaps, we have reached the end, and she is smoldering like a pyrotechnic fuse. August and stolid, amplified, and robust for a highland lady! Give her a dance, but it is she who shall do the spinning! — 8 years ago
