Ribbitt - Times Fun When Throwing A Wedding. Open at Other End. Friends of the Frog. Love Magnums — 8 years ago
What a beautiful person inside and out! I'm blessed beyond measure to be able to call him "Dad". Words can't adequately express how much I Love him. We opened a few bottles last night that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever. We are celebrating his completion of 6 rounds of chemo therapy in his battle against Prostate cancer. This is his 3rd time in the ring against this opponent and it appears that he's won with a unanimous decision by knockout at this time!!!!!! Love you dad!!!!! So proud of your strength through this process. My Father was born in 1940. A difficult year to say the least:
Germans entered Bordeaux in June of 1940. As dictated by Hitler himself, it was the sworn duty of each and every commander to search and seize whatever could be used for the advancement of the German cause. Bedlam broke out. Chateaux' were ransacked, wine cellars were looted if not used for target practice. The Chateauxs were forced to continue producing wines. It's poetic justice that Mother Nature provided the Germans with the worst growing season from 1940 to 1944!!!! The Germans left Bordeaux in 1944 to the cheers of the residents "Au Revoir Les Allemands"!!!! The 1940 bottle that we enjoyed this evening survived World War II. It Survived the ransacking, pillaging & plunder of countless German soldiers. It's outer capsule showed evident signs of its struggle but it's inner beauty was unblemished and glorious. I've had many, many vintages of Latour from 1928 and on but none have ever tasted as perfect as the one we enjoyed tonight. This 1940 was perfect. It was a fighter, it never gave up, it never relinquished in the face of adversity. That's my Father, that my role model. He's a beautiful person inside & out. I think 1940 is the best vintage that I have ever had the privilege to enjoy. Special thanks to my good friends Michael Troise whom provided me with much of the insights in regards to the incredibly difficult vintage and David Page whom gifted this bottle to me for our celebration this evening. I will never forget your generosity. It was a glorious evening to say the least!!! Wine has a way of bringing people together and encapsulating an evening and event. I couldn't think of a better way to rejoice in his victory than to open a Father & Son birth year wine. — 8 years ago
Smoky, juicy, very quaffable and fun. A light-hearted wine to be enjoyed with good friends. And lamb. Racks upon racks of lamb. — 8 years ago
Alive, fresh and stunning.
Medium bodied, core of bright fruit in the center with a meaty exterior. Soy sauce. Cassis. Incredible. Birthday dinner with friends and an amazing line up of wines.

Used the coravin in Jan 2014 to try a taste. Just finished the magnum bottle with friends and rack of lamb. Complex mountain cab with casis, fruit and a perfumed finish. Wonderful wine. — 10 years ago
2013: amazingly smooth, hint of sweetness, flavor a of licorice, dark basil, amazingly balanced, light favors of dark bitter coco. Loving it! — 10 years ago
Beautiful expression of Bordeaux. Aged gracefully with years to go. Graphite, restrained but still present fruit, leather, and coco. Was a favorite for @Scott Petrus and I, but hated by the neophytes. — 7 years ago

Old school Napa Cab. Took some time to open up, but showed well. Lots of dark fruit, prune, cherry, and cassis. Tobacco, leather and cedar notes. A tart start, a little lean on the mid palate, but a clean finish. All around, a well put together wine. Stay thirsty my friends!🍷 — 8 years ago

@Shawn R ...WELL DONE! This was part of a trio of wines that Shawn and I swapped. He was swooning over this and said it was a must try. Now I see why. This is a Dave Phinney wine and though you can taste his style, it's more elegant than The Prisoner (similar blends in that this is majority zin! Would not of guessed it). Ton of blackberries upfront on the nose...small spice to it and a rockin cedar/smokey note. On the palate, surprising acidity. Not overpowering from a tannic standpoint at all, even as a '14. Vanilla, toasted oak, blackberry jam. Shawn sent this as I told him my wife likes the jammy and bold zins...home run, Shawn! — 8 years ago
Popped 1 of my 3 bottles to celebrate two friends turning 50 at Factory Kitchen. 50 year old California Cab with finesse, balance, and though I wouldn't expect it to improve over time, it was fantastic and quintessential old school cab from without a doubt one of my favorite California producers. Just lovely! — 9 years ago
A blend of 54 merlot 46 cf only 675 Cases produced a much cooler vintage in Washington raspberry coulis like fruit cheery and a nice touch of tobacco herbs coco this wine sees 23 months in French oak 34% new very complex bouquet of aromas. Rich and chewy on the tongue with a firm hand of tannins but also lots of acidity holding things together with a long layered finish lots of fresh earth and mineral notes. Finish 50+ most excellent — 11 years ago
Not sure there are many better staters for a 50th birthday party then with Krug Rosé. Thank you Jeremy who is the Somm at Dio Deka for bringing. Thank you Hedy for her carrot ice cream pops (quite unique) and Jenny’s squash small bites featured in the photos. Happy 50th Christina! Great evening of; friends, food & wine. — 7 years ago
First off I use words from a theme of an immortal movie called Midnight Cowboy but modified to fit this post everybody talking at me - I can hear the words there saying - that is either a song for the insane or a cry for me to step up my game as my friends are crushing it lately with there wine choices of late
now that the wine is decanted for two hours and will be another hour before friends show up the first sip is so darn good / epic in fact - big bold and beautiful
Love the deep deep deep reddish color - tannins are so refined and the finish is exceedingly long that smiles are automatic
We have one more special wine tonight so stay tuned — 8 years ago
Out of sheer jealousy at my friends in Vegas I'm having a decent CDP tonight.....the Princeton Jaegar girl in the background is really working the room. For a 2009 this telegraphe is showing really well (although that might be a horse racing term), which is cool as the 2007s still seem a bit in the intermediate phase. Nice plum, liquorice, leather......great structure and a really subtle menthol finish......love these wines. — 8 years ago
Absolutely smooth and delicious. I can't say that it has tremendous character, or anything that makes it stand out apart from its smoothness or deliciousness, but it is certainly a pleasure to drink, and I would NEVER turn it down! This was purchased for me as a present by dear friends for my 40th birthday. I enjoyed it tremendously! I hope that we can all enjoy this wine (regardless of vintage) together as a special treat, in good health, for many years to come. — 9 years ago
Wow! I was worried because some 95-97 Cults all have gotten flabby! But this gem still had great acid balance and melted tannins with complex core of spices, leather, fruit compote and nuts. Was 100 points WS/WA and the best Harlan I've tasted to date! I think it might still have a quite a few years left to improve which I generally I would have suspected. Drank at Benu with Yun the Somm and friends! — 9 years ago
Welcome friends to Dr Todds wine bar. Today we are tasting Artemis by Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. This is the 2012 Cab. It is their cheapest cab and its still 45 dollars. Imagine that! My taste is too expensive for my wallet!
The cork has a perfect absorption line with a very very small rim in perfect lineage! no breaks . The color is opaque and dark purple / black just like I like it. The legs are long at 5 sec. The initial boquet is a bit disappointing. There is a hint of perfume. But if we let it breathe for 15 min, its gone. Then we have ripe plum. The initial palate is sour apple and sweet plum. Sweet and sour like youve never had! There is no spice. The finish is amazing. This is where it gets good! It is very dry but not to the point of not being able to move your mouth. The tongue has a dry grip on the lower half from the base to the tip. Then its gone!!!!! No aftertast at all. The one thing about this wine is it never lets you down! its always the same. A great wine for the price. — 10 years ago
