Vintage 2015 / Imagine you find a vineyard with almost 50 years old Chenin Blanc and you are able to make wine from it. Frederic Mabileau must have been thrilled. This vineyard in Saumur is 1 hectare. Minerals in smell, a lot of minerals. Also vanilla (16 months en foudre). Hints of tropical fruit, hay, enormous powerful in taste with good acidity. The wine is rich, a nice roundness and slightly less crisp than the usual Droin style, but still with enough backbone and acidity to make it harmonious, balanced, classy, elegant and with a lingering delicious finish. Great bottle. Un nez magnifique sur les fruits jaunes, pêches et un petit côté chèvrefeuille et une touche de coquillage.
