Fine tannins and smooth berries. Outstanding varietal. — 8 years ago
Yes. Poured from a magnum, this wine is intensely earthy on the palate and reflects its fossil-rich, mineralic soil at the base of a volcano. Slightly gritty, having the characteristic muskiness one might expect from a Mourvèdre heavy wine with tons of beautiful Grenache fruit. Ahhh-ha, hush that fuss. — 9 years ago
The Laherte Frères Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is intense and precise, with bracing acidity and striking mineral overtones. Straw-colored, with a fine mousse, this zero dosage sparkler opens with notes of lemon zest, dried honey, pastry and white flowers. The palate is terroir-driven, chalky, calcareous, fossil-laden soils from the Mesozoic era come to the fore with energy and focus, punctuated by overtones of white grapefruit, lemon zest and spice. JCB no 81 is a praiseworthy fawn of a Chardonnay-nay. Smooth as silk with light hints of citrus, decent acidity bite and suave finish worthy of a summer day. This demitasse isn't merited for the village idiot's palate so partition accordingly. — 9 years ago

Each time I sip one of the phenomenal Löwenstein holy wines, first words to pop up in mind - straight from the heart pumping through the veins and slipped out of mouth - are: complexity, primordial, hope, illumination, flinty, silex, slate, fossil, rocks, sublimeness... http://hlweb.de/ — 10 years ago
Fantastic! A bit more dry than some other Zins I've had, excellent! — 10 years ago
Beautiful saline fossil-like minerality and bracing acidity pairing well with shellfish and cheese. — 12 years ago

Crisp, dry and well crafted. Nice Riesling with hints of peaches and flowers. Some tropical fruits on the pallet. Loads of acidity. Solid effort. — 8 years ago
Beautifully aromatic with grassy and fresh citrus notes, a lovely balance of dried apricot and grapefruit pith in the mouth. Some sour apple too! Yum yum. Great clarity, only a little bit of claylike terroir. Interesting given the limestone and marine fossil soil. — 9 years ago
Smokey nose and tart finish.

I guess that if I'm going to love a white wine, it needs to be pink. — 10 years ago
In fossil limestone. And very distinguishable. — 11 years ago
