The Prisoner Wine Company

The Prisoner Napa Valley Zinfandel Blend

2008
Bright but age served it well - letting the Zin and Cab elements meld. Nice cold day sipping wine

C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España)

Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2004

Very good rioja, good structure, earthy elements, beautiful color. But wine of the year last year? Think not. — 11 years ago

Tenuta San Guido

Bolgheri Sassicaia Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2011

Super Tuscan at its finest. Cab elements were in the forefront and the other varietals were a strong supporting cast. Lots of $$$ but worth it at least once or twice. Especially vs Antinori... — 10 years ago

Elderton

Command Single Vineyard Shiraz 1998

Incredible. Beyond amazing. Porty elements with a cake, whipped cream chocolate icing type of nose and flavor profile. Raisins, dates and figs come to mind with chocolate cake on the palate. Long finish. Hands down best wine I've had from Australia. Seriously though, this smelled like chocolate icing. Beyond delicious. — 11 years ago

Paloma

Napa Valley Merlot 2010

Nose has similar elements to 07: black cherry, smokey white pepper, licorice. Palate has balanced acid, smooth texture, fruity finish. Great tannins, will last another ten years if cellared well. I ❤️ Paloma! — 12 years ago

First US Riesling I have had - impressed - good fruit, mineral & structure - would love to taste it with some serious age! — 11 years ago

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Much more napa typicity than the 03 estate. Big ripe black berry, black currant, raisin and cranberry notes on the nose. Massive methoxypyrazine presentation, bell pepper vegetal overload. Not in a bad way. It is enveloped by a bitter dark chocolate element that compliments spicy brown sugar oakiness. The palate is big and bold. Full bodied black fruit expression. Big vegetal notes. Solid oak elements with a long satisfying finish. Went super well with short ribs! This wine is very good. — 11 years ago
