Piercing acidity and the kind of steely minerality that makes my eyes squint are hallmarks of quality Riesling from this region, this wine is a nervy bundle of that, with buckets of quite sophisticated-tasting lime juice - almost Gimlet-like. Nice concentration. — 10 years ago
Beautiful wine - highly recommended!! — 11 years ago

Saar subregion, definitely. 10km away from Egon Müller and Von Othegraven — 11 years ago
An incredibly impressive wine packed with extract and viscosity...layer and layers of luscious tropical fruit flavors and a finish that lingers endlessly--MAGICAL! #Riesling #EgonMüller #Rieslingfeier — 12 years ago
One of the best German Regent ref wine — 12 years ago
Ofcourse way too young, needs probably another 5 years in the cellar but I absolutely enjoy this youthfulness aswell with already great balance of sweetness and acidity with loads of fresh stone fruit and citrus flavours and a lot of floral notes. Already shows nice complexity and the finish is loooooong — 8 years ago

A great wine from the glory days of #Kesselstatt--very attractive amber color, luscious texture with a long caramelized finish. A #Scharzhofberger even Egon would approve of! — 11 years ago
Best birth year wine I have ever had! Thank you D & P! — 12 years ago
Perfect residual sugar / acid balance. Very fresh on the nose with notes of mint, wet stones some petrol. Deep and complex. Amazing showing. — 12 years ago
Cheers to Georg Mauer: 1967 EGON MAUER, Eltviller Sonnenberg, Riesling Auslese, wow! — 12 years ago

Egon Mauer was for a long period the cellar master of the State Domaine in Eltville, the largest fine wine estate in Germany.
This #1976, from the great #EltvillerSonnenberg vineyard, was so beautifully balanced and drinkable that you wanted sip after sip and glass after glass... an endless flavor profile of apricots, pinapple and crême brulée... complex, spicy aromatic due to ample #botrytis but not a jot of bitterness... utter perfection! #EgonMauer #Riesling #Rheingau — 10 years ago

Erik Nordman
Man, these Julian Haart '16s are awesome from what I've tasted thus far. Electric, juicy, mineral Rieslings with more verve and tension than you can shake a stick at. Very young and a little too reductive on opening right now so splash it in a decanter for a bit and better yet, wait for a few years. Pours a pale gold hue. Medium (+) concentration of aromatics of some slightly funky crushed slate minerality, slightly underripe white peach, honeydew melon, some lees influence that is coming across as aged, hard cheese rind and a slight lager-esque character, and there's some sugar snap pea character as well. There's some of that struck match reduction aroma upon opening as well, but it blows off with a bit of air. On the palate, there's more crushed slate, white peach (ripe rather than underripe like on the nose), honeydew melon, hard cheese rind leesiness, and a bit of beeswax character that was absent on the nose. Nice length on the palate as well. Juicy, intense high acidity, lean, light body, just the slightest bit off-dry. Really nice stuff! Julian's studied under some pretty impressive names (Egon Müller included amongst them) and it definitely shows. Excited to see what he does in the future. — 8 years ago
