Greenish goldish on the eye. On the nose it is sweet, honey like, with scents of orange blossom and stone fruits. On the pallet, it is heavy; starts off with a burst of freshness, followed by citrus acidity, and a sweet vanilla-like medium finish. Bold and intriguing with sweet intentions. Louis XIII. Over 1200 separate eaux de vie ranging in age from a minimum of 40 years to over 100 years. Intense nose of rose petals, sandlewood, fig, caramel. Palate is rich and velvety with nice spice and layers of flavor. More spice flavors such as cardamom, cinnamon and white pepper on the back of the palate. A very very nice, beautifully elegant wine. Citrus notes on the nose, buttery, toasty, oaky flavors. There might be a hint of spice somewhere, very complex! Could age for a long time. Great pairing on scallops, poultry, even crème brûlée. The creamy texture and the buttery, lemony characters on the palate are really pleasant. Loved it! — 10 years ago
