Great wine for an inexpensive price. Medium bodied with a bit of a bite. Fruit forward with medium tannins and dry finish. Very impressed :) — 8 years ago

Translucent burgundy color with just a tiny bit of haze on the rim and slow flowing legs. Nose of nice cranberry, herbs, a touch of soy sauce, a bit of salty mineral, baking spice, and dressed with powerful alcohol. Taste of bright and sharp acidity, with sweetness comes at the second wave, peppery and a bit zesty like grapefruit zest, cherries and cranberries, and baking spice. Aftertaste is zesty and sweet, medium finish with peppery note lingering on the base of tongue. A nice flavorful and refreshing Pinot. — 9 years ago
Stunning. Broad, rich, toasty, complex. Carries its rocket fuel alcohol very deftly — 9 years ago
Moves the needle on life up a few ticks. Fantastic. Get some and drink it. — 10 years ago
2nd wine from Bevan. In honor of parker release of Napa '10. Dark red core with deep ruby edges. Nose is graphite, black currants, loamy earth and good spice, barely a trace of oak. The palate is full bodied with medium to mostly full bodied, but ripe tannins. Light on its feet but fully concentrated this is a beaute! #bevancellars #awesomecabernet #napa2010 — 12 years ago

Impressive merlot, great fruit followed by good structure making it a big boy Merlot not that flabby stuff all too common. — 9 years ago

The horrible glasses that we had to use are not doing the wine justice...but it’s still terrific. Honeysuckle, lemon peel, white flowers, and a trace of vanilla on the nose. Mouth-filling and expansive across the palate - really expands - followed by a creamy smooth finish with just enough acid to keep it moving. Mark Aubert does it yet again. — 7 years ago
Bursting fruit, smooth with no undesirable bite of over eager tannins — 8 years ago
If there were ever an archetypical Syrah, Jamet's Cote-Rotie would be a strong candidate. To me this is a pure expression of a classic Northern Rhone Syrah. It is not a single site, but a blend of terroirs, encompassing over 20 sites mostly from hard rock schist bedrock with little to no topsoil. There is NO Viognier in this wine like one might expect from most Cote-Rotie that might have 1-5% co-fermented.
Importantly, there is also a lot less of the oak character that can dominate and overwhelm many Northern Rhone wines. The oak maturation, while not short at 22 months, only uses 15% new oak with no trace of it on the palate as it is perfectly integrated. Grape bunches are whole cluster fermented and macerated for up to 3 weeks.
The 2007 we have here was drinking superbly for a young wine, showing lively and racy layers of peppercorn spice, roast beef, and warm blackberry and currant fruit from the hot 2007 vintage. While from a warm vintage, not a hair is out of place. Density and purity exude from the nose and hint at what a brilliant future this wine has. Perfect acidity and fleshy ripe tannin provide the backbone structure for father time to peel back the layers of this beauty. I will be chceking back in 5 years at the earliest. — 8 years ago
Giving absolute credence to the reputation that the wines from the Margaux commune show, both displayed an elegance allied with a subtle power and perfect balance, especially 2005.
2000 had a trace pyrazine note that I found unexpected, and quite frankly not that enjoyable. Outside of that the wine was perfect. The second bottle did not throw it as strong, so not exactly in the clear on this night.
The 2005 was in perfect shape, drink now or age it another 20 years easy, this was so enjoyable and balanced with perfect tannin integration and a seamless, dense and pure finish that sailed on forever.

2017 edition. Best ER17 I’ve tasted in quite a few years. Very Pappy-like with strong maple, vanilla, burnt sugar and nutmeg. — 7 years ago
