Sipping this very interesting and wonderful Rio Ha in Sevilla in August 2017. Started each evening with a glass of this one before heading out to wonderful Spanish food and other wines. Powerful yet easy on the palate. It seems to be sold out at home in the US but I will try to find it. — 9 years ago
A benchmark 10 year tawny. Best around the third day of exposure to air--the wood is perfectly integrated and infuses each sip. Lovely complexity and freshness. Great QPR as well. Only topped by Ferreira's ethereal Duque de Bragança 20 year--for me, the apogee of tawny. — 10 years ago

Dry leathery with lots of complexity. Great with the manchego. — 10 years ago
Clear, medium ruby/garnet colour, clean raspberry fruit, medium intensity, medium tannins & acidity, should have a few years ahead. — 11 years ago

Loved this wine. Wonderful raspberry and red cherry flavors. Would love to own a case. Had it in Sevilla, Spain. — 10 years ago
1860 Palo Cortado, Privilegio from Hidalgo, bottle no. 229, 20% Abv. The King of rare, expensive sherries. Medium mahogany hue. Ridiculous complexity on the nose: salt, anchovy, Xmas cake, walnut, wood polish, caramel and vanilla essence. On the palate, medium body, huge acidity and persistence of flavour, extremely long, while elegant and graceful. Not quite as good as a previous faultless 100 point bottle I enjoyed in Sevilla. But stunning nonetheless. — 11 years ago
