Red, mineral, dusty, blood orange. Texture not unlike a good northern Rhône — 11 years ago
Nice - quite smooth and light. — 11 years ago
Interesting Shiraz and Cab blend. Over 3 hours starts with strappy Shiraz nose, goes to Cab side with red fruit, then gets absolutely meaty like a Northern Rhone. — 10 years ago

Aside from Willowbridge and Cape Mentelle I have never really explored Western Australian Shiraz. I had no idea Mount Barker was cool climate and was pleasantly surprised to find this wine to be medium bodied. It's quite rich and complex but also elegant to the point that it vaguely reminds you of old world Shiraz from the Northern Rhone. Black pepper and red berry on the nose with a succulent plum flavour on the palette. Tremendous savoury character with soft, fine tannin profile. Solid drop. — 11 years ago

2012 is young but very drinkable. A real treat and a top South African Syrah, tastes like a Northern Rhone. — 10 years ago
This South African Syrah is pricey for the country's wines but it doesn't disappoint. Much like a Northern Rhone style -- packed with fruit, acid and spice in just the right balance. — 10 years ago
Like an international wine tour- Bordeaux-like on opening, heads sub-equatorial with a hit of air, but more Chilean or Argentine (Michalene calls it as Carmenere) than S Africa.
Pyrazines remind me of northern Italy cabernet but syrah adds midpalate weight, but not in Barossa or Coonawarra proportions. This is one of the most interesting and compelling cabernet based wines I've had in a long time. Worth seeking out if the provenance is good. — 11 years ago

Way to young & completely shut down. Needs at least 3-5 years in the cellar or open the bottle two days in advance. Very much Northern-Rhone style. — 10 years ago
