Regal, powerful, polished beneath a rustic veneer. Reductive out of the gate, the next day revealing complex and subtle layers of sappy fruit and resinous herbs. Raspberry, Kirsch, licorice, cedar and smoke flavors pushed forward. The mid palate is lithe and graceful, finishing with a silken texture that shows deft restraint in a rather generous vintage. The power and richness of 2015 makes an overall impression but is not the dominant feature. And despite the imprint of slightly charred new oak flavors, the acidity and freshness of this 1er cru lift things up and prevent it from feeling weighty. Truly a tremendous Burgundy.

2015 slightly better... this is a beaut — 5 years ago
Last evening in Vegas with my son. Just he and I enjoying some QT together at Mon Ami Gabi. Wow. This delivered big time with an amazing steak frites. Earthy funk, dark red/blue fruit, flowers. Airtime opened it up to a full bodied dark red fruited beaut with svelte tannin grip, fantastic mouthfeel and length. A stunner and one of the better Bordeaux’s I’ve had in quite some time. And I didn’t have to share with anyone tonite! — 6 years ago

Delicious old school CdP. Dark fruit and spice, lots of minerality, great balance and surprising concentration. I’d have guessed 5-7 years old, not 18. This is a beaut and a pleasurable throwback... — 6 years ago
Well built smooth dark beaut. Few Merlots wow and this is one of them. — 4 years ago
Delicious mouthful of wine. Black berry, creosote, oolong tea, mince meat. Fine long tannins. Solid. — 5 years ago
This is a beaut. Perfume and earth. Garden soil and woodland scrubs and evergreen shrubbery. Slight floral undertone. Spicy, tobacco and leather. Medium bodied, highly tannic, deserves a decent decant for being 12 years old. God, I love Mourvèdre. — 5 years ago

Sauvage, blood, olive tapenade, baked rocks, bramble. So smokey and meaty, this was delicious 😋 — 5 years ago
Very pale, lively, and bright. A wine that’s meant to age. — 6 years ago

Brambly black fruit - fresh, crushed, juicy - with a big pinch of pepper. Add to this a bit of violets and some crushed rock - this is not a shy wine.
Poised & balanced on the palate with juicy acidity, fine tannins and a sense of place. Quite elegant, too.
Shows Cinsault stand-alone can make a really nice wine. — 4 years ago
