This is a VERY pleasant surprise (at first pass, I was not sure I would love this but it really opened up). Bought this from the Secret wine fridge at FLX Wienery. After being closed off for many years, this baby needed to breathe. It's from The Rocks before it was known as "The Rocks." The funk is mostly blown off. The power is still there on the finish--which is elegant and long. The fruit is still present with conflicting red and blue fruit--esp. prevalent is dried raspberry and blackberry. The pepper is still present. The tannins are still powering through 17 years later. — 9 years ago
My last '07 😢. The entire case drank nicely all the way until the end! — 10 years ago

Lovely wine. More nuance and layers than in the two Oregon pintos with which it was tasted (serene evanstad and berg storm). Nice smoky earthiness with darker fruit. Nice length and linger. Exc with food — 12 years ago

Beautiful and serene. Reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast, resplendent with lemons the size of one's head, looking out over the Tyrrhenian Sea and inhaling the salty air. There is a little grassiness, also, bringing this wine back down to earth from its lofty perch. Wine Gallery. — 9 years ago

Oak. Butter. Toffee. Nice acid and finish — 9 years ago
Iron fist with a velvet glove. The vigneron's location gives it away so well. Romantic and serene. — 9 years ago
Incredible dark fruit, minerals, and a menthol accent, and still youthful with vibrant acidity and ample velvet tannin come together in a stunning blend of grace and power that begs for serene contemplation. — 10 years ago
Slight floral quality to the edgy sweetness and gorgeous black fruit. I suspect some co-fermentation here (Viognier). Lovely, lively, and lithe on the palate. Plenty of acids here, so this will pair with nearly any meats. Just to reiterate, this is not your typical Paso syrah (no offense), but an elegant rendition of the grape. — 11 years ago
