This seems fresher than the 1989 Butteaux (plus, the entire cork, in 3 distinct pieces, came out of the bottle), color is light/medium gold, but fruit doesn’t show the depth of the 1989 Butteaux, both are still alive and solid (at 35 YEARS!?!?), but this Chapelot is fresher, while the Butteaux is fatter/richer, thus I’ll give each the same score! — 6 months ago

17/20 — 8 years ago
Light and poised with lime, slate and cool stone. Pretty and focused. Limpid. Very good. — 7 months ago
A solid budget “Beauj”. This actually tastes like terroir and you can tell the winemaker is trying to not get too involved in the cellar unlike last nights moulin a vent. A lightness and tartness that is quite fun raspberry notes of fruit and a lot of acidity lead to a good drinking wine. Perhaps cherry notes in the middle? The finish isn’t huge but it does linger after swallowing. Actually the nose is quite pretty. Lilac notes? A flower. Highly recommended. The light tartness on the finish might a little much for some people. Maybe air will mellow it. Will buy again.
Edit: after 20 or 30 min of air the tart end integrates and the wine smoothed even more out. This probably deserves a higher rating than 9. Highly recommended — 2 years ago
(It’s evening). Bright straw yellow. Pronounced nose. Blossom, peach, sweet yeastiness, gentle nuttiness, golden apples and pears, spicy chicken skin soup, sweet baking spices (vanilla, cinnamon). Deep and intense but round and broad, not piercing.
Dry, high acid, high alcohol, full, rounded body, hint of spritz, very saline, nice long finish. A bit austere. Couldn’t quite cope with brilllat savarin but great with the others.

Demi-sec. Pineapple, honey, lemon rind. Not what I usually look for in Chenin, but this is undeniably a good wine. Elegant, full, and with a finish that just won’t quit. — 7 months ago
Stone fruit, citrus, grass, great mineralogy and acidity. Fantastic Sancerre. Cellar for a few more years. — 9 years ago
