One of the better chards I've had from John Hilliard's winery along Route 246 near Lompoc, this has improved considerably with a few years in bottle. Still a bit more oak than is my preference, the wine nevertheless exhibits great balance with classic chardonnary aromatics, a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, and a lingering finish. I still think his Venus bottlings are better expressions of chardonnay, but this one at ~5 years is drinking well! — 8 years ago

Smooth and easy to drink. — 10 years ago
Absolutely stunning! Warm, toasty vanilla notes that wash over your tongue like a wave of flavourful goodness. Impressive body and finish - will make you wonder why you never had it before! — 10 years ago
No tricks, just a big treat on Halloween: the second vintage of Ferrari's Riserva Lunelli, a classic blanc de blancs from Trentino in Northern Italy. Lots of fruit, slightly toasty notes, creamy texture and a long finish. Proof that excellent quality doesn't need sugar to shine - an extra brut venus! — 11 years ago

A journey to the centre of the earth and back, then on to the moon, knocking on the doors of Venus and all the other planets.
Very close to perfection.
Nothing to do with the Tuscan Vin Santo, more like a German TBA. Game of sweetness, freshness, density, viscosity, eternity and who knows what more. A must in your cellar to keep for special occasions.✌️❤️ — 8 years ago
Very well balanced and rich Rhone style white. Lovely. — 8 years ago
Sweet simple margaritas. This is our go to. Did I mention sweet? Head and shoulders above the standard fare. Not complicated enough to sip imho. — 9 years ago

Dark berries, dry and delicious. — 10 years ago
A rare dessert wine I brought back from Switzerland. A passerillé made from Doral (hybrid of Chasselas and Chardonnay). Unctuous on the front and middle but gossamer on the finish. Good balance of acidity/sweetness. Mandarin orange and peach nectar. Touch of bitter orange too. — 10 years ago
Less green pepper nose than Chasing Venus, but better for cooler weather. Fantastic stand alone drink. — 11 years ago
Montsant at its best. Perez & Barbieri second generation creating a stunning wine made from a blend of Syrah. This is what outstanding Catalonian wine can be. A must have!!!! — 8 years ago

This is the standard on which all other barrel aged gins should be judged. By far the best I've ever had. — 9 years ago
Pretty large but has the acid to back it up. Still drinking great. — 9 years ago
Having this delicious Bacchus and Venus reserve club wine at home with a bbq'd flat iron steak. Perfect! — 9 years ago
Great wine, but not at 55 degrees! I find the bouquet of this wine opens up like a Venus flytrap (extra little shop of horrors) at exactly 66 degrees. An enterprising man would certainly calibrate his machinery to this end. More so, there is BIG INK to be found here, a treasure of sorts-- like chewing on a fountain pen and having it explode in your juvenile mouth. — 9 years ago
What a great wine. Deep flavor, soft and mellow. — 10 years ago

Still quite youthful fruit, but mellowed tannins, with cassis, tarragon and something dark and smoky on the finish. — 8 years ago
