The High Note Pinot Noir 2009

Hugely impressed - lots of that forest floor or root vegetable aspect on the nose, but the flavour is all fruit, red into black. Great typicity and great otago character. Excellent value at $35 — 10 years ago

La Serene Noire Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2009

Slight floral quality to the edgy sweetness and gorgeous black fruit. I suspect some co-fermentation here (Viognier). Lovely, lively, and lithe on the palate. Plenty of acids here, so this will pair with nearly any meats. Just to reiterate, this is not your typical Paso syrah (no offense), but an elegant rendition of the grape. — 11 years ago

Two Barns Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007

My last '07 😢. The entire case drank nicely all the way until the end! — 10 years ago

Grand Cru Brand Riesling 2010

Excellent with the food at Stateside. The floral nose, white fruit and mineral aspect a perfect foil for the SE Asian spice. Not the equal of the best GG but very appealing. This was the "Kirchberg" Brand. — 10 years ago

Clos du Soleil Dijon Clone Chardonnay 2008

I try to not compare new world to Burgundy, but this really reminds me of Puligny. Layered & rich, but plenty of acidic structure. — 10 years ago

@David A Lentine - it really was. Our second Christmas dinner in two nights. Last night beef, tonight fish. I snuck a small glass away to enjoy after we cleaned up & it was kicking. @Peter Hladun -I'm strange w/ them. I like their Chardonnay more than their PN, but they are a very good producer all around.

@Anthony Lombardi very close to DS is a small PN producer called White Rose, I highly recommend if you haven't tried already

@Peter Hladun - Thank you for mentioning White Rose! I do know & like them, but haven't had their stuff in a few years. This is a good reminder. So many great producers in Oregon.
