Bodega del Abad

Abad Dom Bueno Bierzo Señorio de Valcarcel DO Mencia 2011

Tasty and affordable in the new Mencía style. Dark berry and vanilla on the nose, blackberry jam through and through on the palate. Finishes like satin. Great value to pair with red meat off the grill or hearty game. — 12 years ago

Sábrego Valdeorras Godello

Does an amazing job of walking the tightrope of new/old world, fleshy fruit (pear, quince, pomelo), with just enough acid to keep it in balanced. A bit of nutty bitterness at the finish-- what it needed..,. — 11 years ago

Ruinart

Dom Ruinart Brut Champagne Blend 2002

02’ - not a huge aromatic nose but pristine presentation of grapefruit zest, white flowers, chalk, and a hint of smoke and spice. The palette feels a bit tired, the acid is medium, though the finish sticks around for a decent time. This seems past its prime, sadly. A lot of bottle variation in these right now I believe. — 7 years ago

Bolo Valdeorras Godello 2013

This wine was a great surprise, great value for the $13.99 price! A little tropical and earthiness on the nose, but on the palate it really came alive - crisp with a bit of effervescence, good acid and retaining the fruit flavor. Great with Indian food or any spicy food or shellfish. — 10 years ago
