02’ - not a huge aromatic nose but pristine presentation of grapefruit zest, white flowers, chalk, and a hint of smoke and spice. The palette feels a bit tired, the acid is medium, though the finish sticks around for a decent time. This seems past its prime, sadly. Surprisingly complex and nuanced. There is an undeniable floral component to this wine that is quite atypical for Zinfandel. Mineral-laced, spicy, elegant and simply delicious. Aside from a hint of blueberry jam this is in no way your typical Dry Creek Zinfandel. Weight and texture are beautiful. Loving the lavender and violets. Easily the best wine I’ve had from Maple Vineyard. This is Zin! — 8 years ago
