Delmas Wines

Château Tronquoy-Lalande

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

"One of the Finest Wines I have ever tasted from Tronquoy Lalande, this estate has been resurrected by the Bouygues family (also the owners of Chateau Montrose) capably assisted by Jean Bernard Delmas, the Wine Architect at Haut Brion between 1961 and 2003. A Blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and a whopping 10% Petit Verdot, the 2010 boasts a dense purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of violets, black currants, earth and subtle oak. Admirable concentration, sweet, well-integrated tannin and a surprisingly sexy, opulent mouthfeel result in a Gorgeous Wine to drink over the next 12-15+ years". 100% Grenache. The wine name translates to "First Among Equals" Soft nose of florals, spice, blueberries, dark cherries, dark rich soils. The mouthfeel has soft and tannins are velvety. Medium body and tannins. Blueberries, dark cherries, strawberries and soft but deep, dark spice. Crushed rocks, good acidity and a beautifully, round elegant, lean finish. The aromatics on the nose of the Raza wines were amongst some of the best I've experienced...amazing florals! Billo who is part owner & Winemaker has an impressive resume. He last made Delmas wines before helping to start Raza. He just completed his "Masters of Wine;" which is not an easy task and there are less than 300 "Masters of Wine" in the world. Photos of; their tasting room and shots of their cellar. Raza is a small production producer at around 750 cases. — 7 years ago

Two different institutional bodies. I am a Sommelier. I passed my exams through "The Court of Master Sommelier". Billo went through the "Masters of Wine."
