‘Inferno’ he only made in a few vintages. A stinky dark nose with tar and roses. Lovely depth and gnarly fruit but great acidity- blind there was an almost Brunel love-like intensity to the fruit. Both intense and pretty. Really classy and very vital. Great — 8 years ago
Well balanced classic with crushed black fruit, a bit of forest floor and kiss of smoke. Great depth for a CdR — 8 years ago

George gave us samples at Privada. Both liked. He says it's pretty reasonably-priced, around $17 — 9 years ago

Classic Brunel love! The 1998 drinking perfectly and showing its age with grace and beautiful finish! Kudos to the folks at Winebow! — 8 years ago
Nice grenache nose with blackberry notes along with garigue and tapenade touches. This is simple yet very inviting. The palate is very well made with a very strong acid backbone, a nice blackberry note all along, somehow a milky mouthfeel, a powerhouse of a midpalate with a good grip and a very long finish with fruit and that grip, along with a tiny bitter touch. This is simple but very well made. More of this!! — 5 years ago

K&L notes, The flagship wine from Gardine, the Gaston-Philippe is named for Gaston and Philippe Brunel. The wine is equal parts Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre aged in new barrique. Composed of the oldest vines from the estate, they range between 60-90+ years of age. A benchmark wine from a benchmark producer! — 4 years ago
