The nose reveals; pink grapefruit, tangerine, strawberries, watermelon near the rind, hints of rhubarb, blood orange, sea spray, mild volcanic minerals, chalk, light fruit roll-ups, fruit blossoms and pink roses.
The body is thick, gluey and shows some frizzante. It’s fresh, lively and easy to drink. Especially, outstanding on a warm day. Candied fruit of; pink grapefruit, tangerine, strawberries, watermelon near the rind, hints of rhubarb & blood orange. Some white spice with a shade of heat, a herbal presence, sea spray, mild volcanic minerals, chalk, light fruit roll-ups, fruit blossoms and pink roses. The acidy is bright and near perfect. The finish is; rich, ripe, lush, balanced fruit & earth and is delicious.

Very good day 2 — 6 years ago
When it comes to my B-day, there is only one fit, an old Pichon Lalande with my Ribeye. As a lover of Bordeaux, these two are my favorite pairing. It’s a very slow walk to the finishline. A small bite of steak and a sip of 89 Pichon Lalande. Then, repeat until finished. I had some concerns about this bottle. A slightly slippery and crumbling cork. The first sip was not bad, but not what you want or are expecting. After some time in the decanter, it really started to shine. On the nose; ripe, ruby, floral cassis, blackberries, dark sweet & sour cherries, baked strawberries, blue fruit hues, dry cranberries, baked rhubarb, saddlewood, soft, used leather, bay leaf, touch of sage, hint of spearmint, eucalyptus, vanilla, cinnamon, crushed dry crushed rock powder, black turned earth, dry brown soil with clay, tobacco leaf and perfumed red florals with violets. The body is full, round and silky. Tannins are well resolved at around 80%. The texture, length, tension and length are in a sweet spot. The fruits are ripe, ruby & expressively floral. Blackberries, dark sweet & sour cherries, baked strawberries, blue fruit hues, dry cranberries, baked rhubarb, saddlewood, soft, used leather, bay leaf, touch of sage, hint of spearmint, eucalyptus, vanilla, cinnamon, crushed dry crushed rock powder, black turned earth, dry brown soil with clay, scorched earth, tobacco leaf and perfumed red florals with violets. The acidity is just a little off but still nice. The finish is divided nearly equally in fruit, earth, florals and herbaceous. It’s very enjoyable but falls just a little short in longer, lingering length. This bottle had good storage, not great. Even so, still has another three to five years ahead. A bottle with excellent storage has another five years beyond this one. What a wonderful wild berry, spice and wild fresh flowers on the nose. Ripe dark cassis, dry cranberries, ripe rhubarb, dry cranberries, cooked strawberries, dusty brown earth, crushed volcanic minerals, cedar, leather, tobacco, spice-box, dry floral bouquet and lean fresh fruit to dry long finish. Consistent throughout. Out of 3L. Wine of the day there. — 8 years ago
Given the price this wasn't bad. Not terribly well integrated, but still seems like it could age a bit. Will see how it is on day 2. — 8 years ago

Nothing better than rose on a hot summers day! — 11 years ago
Smooth and elegant. Acidic w mineral and white pepper notes w just a touch of Brett. I imagine this is what Syrah tasted like 100 years ago. 😊🙏🍷 — 4 years ago
63/25/12 blend of Vermentino, Muscat and Malavasia Bianca, and yes, pet-nat. Still Applegate Valley AVA but no vineyard designation on this one. Pale yellow white, good foam on pour but light carbonation, bubbles disappear relatively quickly. Slight sulfite in nose, but not much else. In the mouth, creamy, slightly bubbly, lemon-lime flavor with a touch of Muscat, followed by a tangy largely lemon-lime finish. Easy to love, especially on a warm day. Fun and sure to prove popular. Not a wine to overthink, just drink... — 5 years ago
Father's Day 2017 with Sushi — 7 years ago
This wine needed about 3 hours to release. Initially tight with uncomfortable medicinal nose which then totally dissipated. Drinking now next day and you get the age of fully integrated but not fading tannins. Nose has a delightful dark fruit and smokiness. Great fit of nose and taste, meaning - when tastes after smelling the experience is consistent and not jolting. I think the color purple in a subdued way. Very nice. Memo to self: decant and watch for sediment, and enjoy three hours later. — 7 years ago
Wonderful full bodied Canadian red. Great balance of tannins and acidity, lovely warm fruity finish. If you want to show off the best of Canadian red this would be a good choice. — 8 years ago

Krug is always most welcome, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. This is edition 169. A bit more yeasty and slightly less acidic than previous versions, to my taste. But if you like the Krug style - which we do very much - it hits the spot per usual.
My wife used to work with Fritz Hatton, proprietor of Arietta wines and auctioneer for Zachys. Fritz always says to have a half bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge in case you need a “midnight snack”, and I have to agree with him! — 3 years ago

What a nose! Fruit but strongly tinged with spice and hints of cigar? Medium body with fruit and acid but latter lingers into finish which RC says should note be for Napa cab and sign of post prime by 5+ years. But still great to drink. Next day under agon the nose lost that spicy note but the palette holding very nicely. More rounded today. — 8 years ago
