2010. The honey and apple flavors in the wine paired great with a Sour Cream Raisin Pie for dessert! — 5 years ago

Best wine name yet. “Fear of an empty glass”. Not a novelty wine though, great fruit/acid balance. — 7 years ago

Super good with a few years age. Classic mclaren bakes notes of eucalyptus, dark chocolate and blackberry. Very very good. I miss Aussie wines and have been craving a massive one for long while — 8 years ago

I do enjoy their wines. However, the most dated, cramped and dirtiest winemaking facilities we’ve visited. Interesting that they decided to spend millions on an odd shaped visitors cube that doesn’t fit the topography. Rather, than build new winemaking facilities that would have clearly helped push the quality of their wines. Interesting priority order?!

@David T never been there. It always surprised by the quality of their top end wines. Sounds old school

While you are there, you get imagery of any 1920’s black & white industrial revolution video footage you’ve seen touched off with lots of spiderwebs...Munster style.

The Conscious Biosphere Mclaren Vale Aglianico Petite Sirah 2012

Amidst it's other notes this wine, atomically, I've found to be so reminiscent of young coonawarra Cabernets with a freshness of black currant. It's taken half a day to truly show itself but this certainly has plenty of interest — 9 years ago

The Coppermine Road McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Big, juicy, the Cabernet character is there, some minty notes along with the wood. Good length just lacks structure and finesse for a classic Cabernet. — 4 years ago

California butter, oak, buttered popcorn, citrus, and white florals on the nose. Palate also shows the same buttery oaky notes, but not as strong as some CA Chardonnay's. However, the mouthfeel does show it did spend some extra time on lees as it's creamy. Palate of; Lemon/lime, grapefruit, green apple, the oak on the palate shows a softer presence, secondary fruits are tropicals with dominate green melon, white flowers with good acidity and nice freshness. Spent 7 months in hogshead barrels (300 liters). Photos show the d'Arenberg cube that stands on the high hilltop. Opens later this year. I must say it really doesn't fit well into the McLaren Vale natural landscape in the other photo. Wonder how they got the plans approved with the MV Council?💰💰 — 8 years ago

The Custodian McLaren Vale Grenache 2016

I really love D’Arenberg. Their budget wines- Stump Jumps - are always a good value( though not quite as good the last few years. This one and the Shiraz ( The Footbolt) are always terrific and @20$ I cant really afford the expensive ones but these rock. Medium bodied- not big and jammy- but great fruit and no wood! Finish lingers with some tannic bitterness. Can drink on its own or very food friendly. I had it with grilled burgers. And vintage to vintage, it’s really good! — 5 years ago
